An online news source wrote:
A MAN in northern India who was found guilty by his village's elders of raping a neighbour who is deaf and mute will be publicly slapped 51 times as a punishment.

The elders stepped in to review the case after local police failed to arrest the accused man following a complaint filed by the victim's husband, the village chief, Badr-ul Hasan, said.

"Police told us that since the woman is deaf and mute, she is not able to narrate the incident," Mr Hasan said.

...

"A case will be registered only if police find proof that the woman was raped. We are inquiring from children who were playing in the field then," Insp Singh said.

If convicted by a state criminal court, the man could be sentenced to death.

Mohini Giri, who used to chair India's National Commission for Women, praised the elders for taking a stance against the police decision.

"I'm proud of the village people who have decided to publicly shame the rapist - at least they are taking action," she said.

So now, as long as you make sure not to leave any marks, OR, your victim can tell anyone about it, you should be OK.

Should've told that to the Duke boys, next time, hire Tommy to be your stripper!

Your mother's a *****. You like to jack off dogs. That's right, you heard me. You like to grab that dog by the bone and rub it like a ski pole. Your dad? Gay. Your priest? Straight. **** off and let me post. It's not true, it's all in good fun. Now go away.

Well, you know. Cutting out the tongue of your victim is a time-honored tradition.

All those in favor say Aye. All those opposed say Nay. Sounds just like liberal democracy (and not just Mass. missionary procedural, but the whole she-bang ;p) to me, and in this case, the Ayes obviously "had" it <wink> (go ahead and pretend the metaphor isn't apt).

Guess that would be the Supreme Indian Senate (whatever it takes to last longer than the proverbial 5 minutes I suppose, forget thinking about baseball, Kennedy filibustering all the way).

Your Honor, move to have that last statement stricken from the record. Denied.

You know what they say, it takes a Village {If he did it, they don't call him Johnny ****-rahn for nothing} ...

It seems to ne that hte authorities are being a bit hasty hjere. They are going off a complaint from the woman's husband, when in reality, they should be looking to see if he left any marks.
