Well having worked customer support and just looking at the responses in this thread it is easy to see that

a) People want to know what is happening. Both overall and to their general gaming site.

b) Even if that means "We are still working like mad men bear with us".

Hell the Eve online site is up and the forums are going and I bet 85% of the alla community has no idea.

The EQ2 community is getting the shaft hard. EoF is being released as a bundle that includes all previous expansion plus the original game. We are about to see a huge increase in new players, as well as the continual flow of FFXI and WoW players who have been defecting to EQ2 in droves. People who used Allakhazam for their FFXI/WoW info and come over to EQ2 allakhazam and find a barren site where only a few dedicated players like Tutanbriar or OBD help or provide info. They end up going elsewhere.

That coupled with the fact that Allakhazam is generally ridiculed for its EQ2 site by the EQ2 community means (allakhazam was also ridiculed on a SOE podcast about asking a stupid question at a gaming convention too!) that when and if they close/integrate eq2ogaming site (best eq2 info site on the intrawebs) into zam.com that there will be a lot of backlash and disgruntled people who will probably just go over to a free site like EQ2i.com

Well all I can hope is that things will smooth over and that the changes come sooner rather than later.

As for corporate, well that is one thing I would like to know. The fact that it is some big secret as to who corporate 'is', well thats just a red flag. You think it would be easier to just clear the air if there is nothing to be worried about.

Is it a big secret? I just googled, and here's what I found:
Someplace called azzor.com wrote:
IGE acquires Allakhazam.

The deal happened in complete secrecy in about November 2005. Even many IGE employees were kept in the dark of the deal that was almost certainly worth millions.

IGE's OGaming had been bleeding money, and IGE was looking for a new website strategy. After adding gold currency ads to sites like thottbot and Ogaming, IGE shopped Ogaming around to investers but no one bought in. Thottbot and OGaming take up over 100 servers.

The Spin

Working to integrate all of their web properties (Ogaming, Thottbot, and Allakhazam), IGE today announced plans to create a new super-network, Zam.com. This new MMO network is being spun to the community as if Allakhazam had purchased Ogaming when it was himself who was bought out. We thought the truth should be known.

Edited: Of course, I have no idea if any of this rings true but I figured you gaming nerds could tell me.

Well according to Allakhazam and some other people, azzor is full of horse sh'it.

From what I have gathered from Alla's posts is that some corporate entity has purchased IGE and its holdings as well as Allakhazam LLC. IGE and all RMT holdings will be one sub division and all gaming sites (Ogaming, Thotbot, Allakhazam) will be another distinct sub division controlled directly by Allakhazam with no connection to RMT other than being owned by the same umbrella corporation.

The worry is that the umbrella corporation is nothing more than a front company run by former IGE head which is nothing more than a means to legitimize their non RMT holdings in a hope that at some point that if the non RMT is respectable that maybe the RMT will become so also.

I dob't give a wet slap about the EQ2 site but, if nothing else, this episode is showing how deeply the mystery parent company's fingers are into the Allakhazam pie. Get new servers? Corporate won't let us. Hire some staff? Corporate is dragging its feet. Answer questions? Corporate hasn't gotten around to it yet.

Ignoring the elephant in the room of whom exactly "Corporate" is, I'm detecting the beginnings of a sea change around here.

I just want to point out that I called this one. []

Toljaso! Toljaso!

Oops, didn't see this one:

Marketers will tell you that it's much easier to maintain a customer base than it is to gain new customers *or* win back disillusioned ones. Just my corporate wisdom for the day.

We've decided to ***** waiting for the new servers, and just putting the new EQ2 site up as-is. Rale's going to finish a few things on it (he did most of the rewrite code), and then hand it off to me to get ready to put up (I just finished a bunch of changes on the EVE-Online site and could take the extra work).

Nods. That's on purpose. I'd prefer if the asylum was only on the news template. And that's just for me, baby, woo yeah.

I'm disappointed that the stylesheet colors go from light green to some brownish-red when you hit the forums. I demand St. Patrick's Day forums!

Any time I think I might have bad breath I visit the new EQ2 template. I come away feeling minty fresh.

I won't comment on anything else in here except the Eve site. It's still in beta. We have a few hangups that actually have nothing to do with us in any way at all. My understanding is that we're waiting on something from CCP.

If there are things that bare broken on the Eve site, would you mind posting it in the eve forum? The whole database is full of exceptions that need to be coded and I know we missed some. Drones not showing damage yet in the item pages is one of them.

Anyway... talk of Eve on the eve forum. Talk of minty freshness belongs here!
