Kenny Loggins:

Christopher Robin and I walked along
Under branches lit up by the moon
Posing our questions to Owl and Eeyore
As our days disappeared all too soon
But I've wandered much further today than I should
And I can't seem to find my way back to the Wood

So help me if you can
I've got to get back
To the House at Pooh Corner by one
You'd be surprised
There's so much to be done
Count all the bees in the hive
Chase all the clouds from the sky
Back to the days of Christopher Robin and Pooh

We finally finished up the filter settings on our new interwebs security system at work, therefore I can no longer even visit this site while being paid. I foresee a serious downtrend in my visiting and posting here as a result, I simply have other things to do when I get home. I'm quite certain once my premium expires (in roughly 10 days) I won't be re-newing. However, if that damned Vanguard game ever launches and it turns out to be half decent, and this site does more than just have a token forum for it, I may reconsider. I'm hoping it will garner the attention and support that WoW did when it came out, but obviously that also depends on the success of the game itself.

At this point, I'm not holding my breath.

I know alot of people are unhappy with some of the level of service here recently. Major balls have been dropped. Alot of that comes from delays from our new corporate masters in ordering certain new servers, and replacing staff site losses. EQ2 specifically has ben hit hardest by turnover. The Dev staff is overwhelmed, and since they are also the server admins, as the integration progresses they get further behind. Some of the ogame end things also have been taking up a large amount of attention, to keep them even functioning.

Things will get better. The servers are arrived for the most part and being integrated, though we are waiting on some of the "new" ones still. The developer team is looking for new staff even as you read this. I cannot be as upbeat about immidiate improvement as I would like to be.

You do what you have to do. If that means cancelling premium to show disfavor with a lack of progress, I do respect that. I cringe when it happens because 1/245th of a penny there pays my salary, but I cannot fault anyone for showing their displeasure with their wallet. I hope you will continue to follow the site, and maybe reconsider when things do start improving though.

That's my 2cp on the issue though.

My premium ran out about a month ago, now, and I don't miss it at all. Never really used the special WoW stuff, I can live without avatards and smilies, the pop-ups are blocked by Firefox, and the site doesn't live off of user support anymore. /shrug

Just not as tantalizing as it used to look.

Making the EVE site fully operational might help a bit, wink wink.

I renewed my premium because I check this site out mostly from work. And where I work, it's the stone age, with old Macs running OS9 and I'm unable to upgrade my browser. I have to use Netscape 7. No such thing as pop-up blocking, and even in the banner ads, the new scripts and flash made the browser crash a lot.

But I don't read as much from work anymore. Our graphic "department" has dwindled to a graphic person - me. I'm hella busy these days.

Kao, while I can understand everyone is busy busy busy, balls have been dropped in many cases, and people are working on "it", for me what speaks volumes has been, until now, the total lack of communication to the community. And this isnt the first time or issue it has happened.

Look to the EQ2 forums and check out the thread, the state of the boards by OBD, one of the most vet posters you guys have at this site.

http://www.allakhazam.com/forum.html?forum=19;mid=1163184800279666471;num=12;page=1#1163475587108741979

Go through forum feedback and look at the timing between Z's first and second post:
http://www.allakhazam.com/forum.html?forum=3&mid=1158762222150449390

8 fekking days and not even one comment until I finally bumped and that was never commented on either. Z's OP was very polite, kindly asking for ANY fekking information on the stat of the EQ2 DB which had been previously promised to us to be finished by August.

Kao Im not angry at you. Im not angry at Pikko, or DF, or anyone in particular. No one is. But many people are angry that it's come to this. I was talking with another poster earlier today and we thought how sad, that Allas, such a great place for gaming info and that close knit feeling the admins and regular posters had, has come to the point where people are leaving in droves, new people are finding other places to go, and many many loyal people are finally unrenewing in disgust of the lack of communication to even the most basic of gaming info questions.

I stay at Allas primarily for the Asylumites. I enjoy their banter. I used to love actually using this site for what it was meant for years ago, but I cant do that now. I use Ogaming, or the O boards because they have the info I need. We can be promised rainbows coming out of Thundras ***, but that doesnt mean we're going to see it. We've been promised a completely overhauled DB for EQ2 and have only gotten a blank wall of silence when asked only what is going on. So why should anyone pay for premium unless its for the goddamn smileys or avatars, unless they play the one game that is the baby to this site?

You forgot to mention the no ads thing. I echo what DSD said. EQ2 has been out how long now, and there is still a "Coming Soon" when you try to go to your characters. I wasn't planning on renewing premium, but rather going to have a wait and see approach to the whole Zam.com *cough*sellout*cough*, but the minute that first ad popped up, I renewed right then and there. I don't play any of the games you actively have info for right now, though I know your EVE Online site is coming along.

Sure, go ahead and throw away 490 people's contribution to your paycheck. It must be nice to have that kind of money.

I pay for premium so I don't have to see the fraken ads and to put up annoying 'tards, that being said it's very, very fucking sad that Allakh's gone the predictable route and stoped worrying about us once it went corporate. A 10% effort in letting us know whats going on would let you get away with 10,000% more ignoring us, because we would feel special, understood and respected. Despite the truth.

My premium runs out on the twenty-fifth, and I don't think I'll be renewing. I mean, I'm not posting here much at the moment, and not even reading consistently, since I've taken work that isn't at a computer for the first time in years. What I am doing is stopping by periodically to see whether or not the year-end awards post has been made yet, so I can make my Best New Poster acceptance speech and then try to move on with my life.

I like having an avatar, but I figure my rather obnoxious sig-flag is enough to easily identify my post anyway, so who needs a sheep or a ************ Mahmoud Amhadinejab or Niobia being skull-fUcked by a teddy-bear? Not me, that's who.

On that thread with no responses. It should have had one. The main reason it didn't is that we were kind of at a loss on what to tell you. "I don't know, eventually?" wears thin very quickly, and given how busy the Dev team has been, it is difficult to get status updates out of them sometimes. Not because of any reluctance to provide information on their end, but they are literally swamped. Another complicating factor is the new corporate structure. We're technically supposed to have a public relations type person to officially pass along such information. That person is not me. I try to do it anyways, but figuring out the new world order here has had some growing pains. In hindsight I think some things would definitly be dealt with differently, but alot of the hardware issues at least were really out of our (the core allakhazam staff) hands. Same with the server move scheduling, etc. If a post like that has not been addressed, PM me. I may have missed it too.

To be honest, a response like "eventually, but just know we're working on it" is a good reply imo.

It was just the fact that the last bit of info we had, was the "halfway August something should happen" and then nothing untill now.

I'm glad that things are still going to happen, looking forward to the changes!

Well I for one would much rather have an "I dont know but we're working on it" than to be completely ignored. An I dont know at least verifies that someone is acknowledging that a question from the community has been asked. It might wear thin for the person who has to answer us, but I can assure you, silence is worse for the community

I dob't give a wet slap about the EQ2 site but, if nothing else, this episode is showing how deeply the mystery parent company's fingers are into the Allakhazam pie. Get new servers? Corporate won't let us. Hire some staff? Corporate is dragging its feet. Answer questions? Corporate hasn't gotten around to it yet.

Ignoring the elephant in the room of whom exactly "Corporate" is, I'm detecting the beginnings of a sea change around here.

I don't play any games, and so I'm obviously not a member of the target demographic, but it does seem like customer service has been flushed down the crapper lately. You had this wonderful business, it made you tons, and has the potential to make you tons more. I do hate to criticise, so I'll give some unsolicited advice instead: it's not one tenth as hard to lose a customer base as it is to maintain one. Don't look up from all your toil someday just to find you've taken folks for granted.
