Before he can be subpoenaed in an official capacity?

Maybe. Probably more of a good soldier throwing himself on the grenade gesture, though, taking blame for the failures in Iraq that had such a devastating ripple effect on the elections.

Not that I mind.

Probably not. This is much more likely Rove and Mehlman in a fit of self preservation throwing him under the bus trying to explain to the president how they lost so badly.

Bus will nominate Bob Gates?

A moderate insider loved by the inteligence community?

Someone needs to slap me before I pass out I think. This has Jim Baker's signature all over it.

Bush seems completely focused on his legacy now. He's like an entirely difrent person. Swapping Rove for Baker as his brain, he might actually get a lot accomplished with a Democratic Congress.

So, who all is invited to the mass orgy the democrats are planning to hold in the oval office?

If Virginia does carry through as democratic, I think people's heads are going to explode on both sides. And of course, Nexa will be admitted into the hospital for alcohol poisoning from excessive celebration.

Omg, I just realized another wonderful repercussion should the dems take the senate (and thus control over the legislative branch for the most part):

shadowrelm will run out of things to ***** insanely about.

Hurray for cleaner boards!!

Wait, on the other hand, it'll give gbaji more to.... oh fuck.

Not surprising really. I'm pretty sure his resignation was going to happen regardless of who won the midterm. Right or wrong, he'd become the percieved "problem".

I don't know if it's so much about Bush trying to build a "legacy". I think he's more looking to 08 at this point. With the Dems in power in Congress, they can't endlessly point the finger at everything that goes wrong and blame Republicans. Well. They can, but it wont get them more votes down the line. Removing Rumsfeld is part of that package. It clears away the easy rhetoric. Wont clear it all, but one can hope that at some point the US voters will expect the Dems to actually come up with a platform that consists of more then just bashing Republicans. The next two years are their test.

We'll see if the Dems manage to be their own worst enemy again...
