I voted Green in our senate race for two reasons.

A. I knew she had absolutely no chance of winning. Kohl is a three term senator that gets Democrat and Republican votes.

B. I think she was the better overall candidate. Sick of seeing rich people win election after election. Would have been refreshing to see a new, politically green mother in the senate.

I have always voted Democrat for president although two double oh eight might be different for me. I can't see myself voting for Kerry again (I was ashamed of myself the first time). Clinton is a dried husk of a woman. I identify strongest with the Libertarian party and would consider voting for old school real republicans. I hate these Neocon scumbags with a passion.

Edit: Also glad to see that crazy psycho ***** Katherine Harris lost. I seriously hope that this is a wakeup call for the Republicans. As I said, I hardly identify with either party, but I would likesome fiscally responsible people come to the helm soon. The day this country's economy becomes FUBAR is fast approaching.

Two more years of Bush, truly sucks.

Two more years of Bush being a lame duck president with the democrats in control of the House, making his life very uncomfortable, well that is just dandy.

Odd, with a landslide victory in the house and the senate up in the air (though the current numbers show democrat majority pending) I'd have thought this board be a bit more lively.

Did you stay up too late at the Democrat victory parties and currently can't find the coffee/anti-hangover meds?

Too bad we're going to have to wait until x-mas to know the final final result.

I'm going to cry if we win the Senate, I'll have to go home or something. I can hardly breathe as it is.

I swore I was not going to care this time, stupid politics.

At least in VA, they can't file for a recount until a winner is declared. So it looks as if it'll have to go at least tenatively to Webb before a final call is made.

Been reading the news about the local elections. Jerry Brown is the Atty. Gen. of California now - look for pot to be decriminalized soon. Smiley: laugh

Rumors are flying that Schwarzenegger may look to take Boxer's seat in '08, which wouldn't be all bad, actually.

Couple of supposedly locked-in Republicans lost their state senate seats, as well, reflecting the national trend.

Illinois lost its sole Republican-held state-wide position when Topinka gave up the treasurer to run for governor and the new Republican candidate lost. Every single state-wide office is held by a Democrat now.

I'm interested to hear about Bush's news conference today.

"Oh, they've got some ideas. Some of them say, 'get out right now.' Some of them say, 'get out at a fixed date,' even though the job hasn't been done. One of them said, 'let's move our troops to an island some 5,000 miles away."'

As for Virginia, I'm tickled pink that it, for once, hasn't blindly gone to the Pubbies, although I don't expect Allen to concede anytime soon. He's too much of an egotistical bastage, and this whole thing has got to feel like a twilight episode to him.

This made me lol, especially since that's what the dems have been doing in looziana for 40 + years. They haven't cared 1 bit for the damage to the environment or to their population.

Virginia - Webb up by 6,931 votes and here's what's still out:

Well we won't have to hear "The Repubs suck, kick them out" for awhile.

The new Dem mantra: The Repubs won't let us do anything and they suck, kick them out.

Should be interesting.

Should be more interesting when the Democratic house (possibly senate) tries to do certain things and the repuglicans end up having to rely on democratic type hold tactics to grind things to a halt.

Whatever the first issue up for voting is, just for spite.

Unfortunatly, it'll will be a piece of legislation that would save the world from utter distruction in the year 2085, thus proving once and for all that there is a liberal conspiracy to destroy American moral values and raise taxes.

I only call them as I see them. Not sure how that has any relevance, but that will be for gbaji to explain, not me.

Tester's lead went from up from 1,700 to 3,000 and change so he's looking more secure. Webb's lead is at 8,000+ now.

Recounts for sure but I don't think they'll find an eight thousand voter discrepancy.

It didn't make a difference in MO as I thought, but I'll point out the irony of the Libertarian vote getting 10,000+ in Montana. At least no one from the Green Party was on the ballot!

Ok, you'd lose though.

Don't mistake Barbra Boxer for Phil Angeledes or Cruz Bustemente.

I bet Conrad Burns doesn't know what hit him right about now. The man is a million years old, and famously makes a big deal out of his lack of education. I remember cringing as he told the same stupid story about how everyone on the Hill has all these letters on their nameplates and so he had one made that said "Conrad Burns, NDBBA".

No Degree But Boss Anyway.

At an AI College Fundraiser. Yeah, I'll be happy if he goes.

Nope, not me.

It'd be a barn burner, unless one or the other of them really gaffes. Neither has a record of dirty or negative campaigns, so it could be interesting.
