The USA is governed by a President, some senator thingies, and some congress blokes (and blokesses).

You're in the middle of a democratic process that involves not bothering to vote 'n' stuff.

Now me. I'm an Englishman.

I get to exercise my franchise every 2-5 years. I elect my local paliamentarian, from among whom a Prime Minister is chosen.

But he or she only has the powers vested in him/her by our Britannic Majesty. At the moment, my sovereign (I am a subject, not a citizen) is Queen Elizabeth II.

Her son will succeed her on her demise or abdication.

WTF is that about?

Don't get me wrong; she's a good lass. Her son is slightly mad but (IMHO) a bloody good bloke. When I become (by default) a subject of King Charles (although I believe he'll quirkily take the mantle of George VII or mayhap Edward IX) I will have no influence, no franchise, no ability to remove him from office by any other means than overthrow.

In short, I shall get what I am given; not what I choose.

So to you citizens of USA. . . .

GET OUT AND VOTE!!!!!

That sounds exactly like our system in a way. Did you copy it?

By the way, I already voted and considered my options very carefully with the most important qualification keeping those goddamned conservative christians out of office.

Nobby my choices for Governer of Pennsylvania are Ed Rendell(D) and Lynn Swann(R) Rendell is garbage and Swann is a former Pittsburgh Steeler(American Football) who has absolutely zero qualities that would make him even remotely qualified. My choices for State Representatives are some guy I've never heard of and the former police officer who did the D.A.R.E.(supposed to keep kids off drugs program) program at my elementary school when I was 8.

Pennsylvania sucks. But I still went out and voted even though pretty much all our choices are bottom feeders. Don't vote and that's how people like GW get where they are today.

here in america, some big bussiness get together, decide on who they can best sell to the public to take a shot at the top position so they can get someone in a position to further their financial intrest in the guise of "helping" us.

and just to make sure some wildcard person doesnt steal it from them, they split themselves into two parties so the pesants actually think they are "choosing" someone.

when in reality, you are only getting a chance to decide which group of big bussiness will get their chance to rape our tax dollars for their own gain.

for instance, big oil reaped a 14 BILLION dollar tax break, while they are selling elderly people another 25,000 dollar homestead exemption.

toss a few peanuts at the chumps...errr...chimps, just make sure you hide the bag behind your back so they dont think they are getting short changed.

vote? why? ***** voting, lets have another tea party and toss BOTH parties out and start over.

I get around that big business rape tax by not paying. Again, all a part of my protesting against The System.

Pfft. Only dirty pot smoking hippies don't vote! Real upstanding citizens continue to push forward and place their meaningless votes because it's what they're told they're supposed to do!

Unless you choose to start a revolution, take your pants off, and march to Buckingham Palace and chop the Queen's head off (not Graham Norton, the other one). And Prince Charles'. And send Will and Harry in exile.

Then you'll have true freedom and empowerment: You'll cast a vote once every four years.

Still, on the important decision, like Iraq, the PM will decide alone because that's what he's there for.

So to you subjects of the UK. . . .

You really think Charlie will make it? At this rate, he may kick the bucket before he gets a chance to be King. William will be nice to watch over the years, although I prefer Harry myself.

I miss the Queen mum, she was so cute.

Give it up man. Everyone knows why the British empire rolled over the world.

They were simply looking for some pretty girls, and a half decent meal.

Had the French just given them a few whores, the Redcoats would have never left thier island.
