I had my id out and gove to the poll worker to only have it handed back, because since I had my voter's card I didn't need id too in MD.

My mom is most likely having a fit. I expect her ashes are about to create a small black hole as she watches the results come in from whatever afterlife she reached. She would always have me baking cookies for her and the other Judges where she worked every election. For some reason I still think Voting should be done with with Toll House Cookies.

Well looks like Bob Casey Jr. absolutely beat down Rick Santorum here in Pennsylvania, which is great for the libbies.

I'm more amused by the fact that Mark Foley is only about a thousand votes behind in FL 16...

Well the major media outlets have declared Ben Cardin and Martin O'Malley Maryland's new Senator and Governor, so guess I can go to bed and wait for final count to get announce by Monday, hopefully.

With a win by O'Malley, we're getting Baltimore's first Female Mayor. She comes with lots of scandal baggage for hiring her sister and giving contracts to family members. Still I rather have her as mayor, then Bob Ehrlich having 4 more years in the governor's mansion.

I'm waiting to sweat out the Roskam/Duckworth House race here in Illinois. I'm not even in their district but I want to know how it shakes out.

My Republican choice for state treasurer is losing hard to the mope the Democrats were running. This angers me greatly.

Not really that surprising. The Foley scandal was so huge that everyone knew that he'd resigned and withdrawn, so there's not really the issue with people not voting for him because of the scandal (they know they're actually voting for a Republican replacement). However, due to the size of the scandal, both parties pretty much abandoned the race. Dems figured they had a free win, and so did Republicans. That pretty much left the local guys to their own devices and this has been traditionally a Republican held seat.

Yup.

Good thing we didn't spend any money there.

Brill, you are showing your political ignorance. Foley's name was left on the ballot because they had already been printed. It's common knowledge in Florida that to vote for Foley is actually a vote for his replacement, a man who impressed both lefties and the righteous of his qualifications.

He gave a nice concession speech.

In other news, God apparently decided Kathrine Harris was a whackjob too.

Well, it looks as if Duckworth has conceded. A shame, too. I really dislike Roskam.

I could have voted in my old district where Dan Davis (D) won with 86% of the vote or my new district where Judy Biggert (R) won with 58%. Instead I watched TV.

At least I don't have to listen to my 99% Republican coworkers gloat tomorrow.

I voted for Radogno and she lost! Smiley: mad Last time *I* vote for a Republican...

Come to think of it, I voted for three Republicans on the ballot and I think they all lost.

I couldn't stop laughing when I heard that Vermont has a commy in the Senate! Bernie Sanders?

See, the second you take your eyes off the ball, they come back to haunt you!

Let the Rise of the Proletariat Begin in Vermont!!

Arise ye workers from your slumbers
Arise ye prisoners of want
For reason in revolt now thunders
And at last ends the age of cant.
Away with all your superstitions
Servile masses arise, arise
We'll change henceforth the old tradition
And spurn the dust to win the prize.

So comrades, come rally
And the last fight let us face
The Internationale unites the human race.

No more deluded by reaction
On tyrants only we'll make war
The soldiers too will take strike action
They'll break ranks and fight no more
And if those cannibals keep trying
To sacrifice us to their pride
They soon shall hear the bullets flying
We'll shoot the generals on our own side.

No saviour from on high delivers
No faith have we in prince or peer
Our own right hand the chains must shiver
Chains of hatred, greed and fear
E'er the thieves will out with their booty
And give to all a happier lot.
Each at the forge must do their duty
And we'll strike while the iron is hot.

Sounds better in French to be honest.

Also, I woke up this morning, went to the living-room, heard the Dems had taken the Houe of Representatives, ran back to see my gf who was still half asleep in bed, and told her:

"Baby, the US has just won the House of Representatives!!"

I guess subconsciously I find Republicans very anti-american

It appears that the Wisconsin Senate has returned to democratic control. I'm also very glad that our incumb Gov Doyle won reelection. Mark Green is a sleaze bag and I felt the need to go wash my ears after listening to him.

I am very ashamed in our state for passing the marriage amendment though. Smiley: frown

I also saw a Muslim, Keith Ellison, was elected to the House.

A Muslim and a Commy....

Well, big congrats for your open-mindedness. I'm well chuffed.
