Martial Arts Flicks......in French?!Follow

#1 Nov 05 2006 at 7:21 AM Rating: Good
Ok now I'm a fairly large fan of good old fashioned martial arts flicks. I grew up watching Enter the Dragon more times than I can remember. Basically if there is someone getting kicked in the face, I'm going to enjoy the film. Which leads to the movie I was able to check out last night. A bunch of us got together and my friend picked up the movie Banlieue 13 aka B-13.

It's a french flick starring two guys named Cyril Raffaelli and David Belle. If you are at all a fan of martial arts flicks pick it up just to see the moves that David Belle tosses out there. There are whole stunt sequences that he did which make Jackie Chan's stunts seem like kiddie moves. The only downside is the voiceovers are absolutely horrid. Still despite that I would highly recommend it to any fan of these kinds of movies.

I'm with you there, but were there any lesbians or robots (or lesbian robots)? That's what really makes a film for me. Also, Patrick Swayze ripping a guy's throat out on the bank of a river.

I guess I'm picky.

How many times have a raved about David Belle on this forum.

Incidentally the guy who co-invented parkour with Belle (Sebastien Foucan) is in the new Bond movie doing insane stunts

I always thought horrid voiceovers were a defining characteristic of these type of films.

Also known as District B-13, movie is better played originally in the french language with english subtitles. Forgot to mention there is a good bit of excellent free running in this movie.
