If you guys have one of those picture-slideshow-of-our-entire-lives-up-to-the-wedding I highly recommend Brass in Pocket by The Pretenders for that. My co-worker used that song and it fit really well for the slideshow. (ie made it bearable)

We didn't have a dance at our wedding cause it just wasn't our style, but my two suggestions are Come What May from Moulin Rouge and I Finally Found Someone by Barbara Streisand and Bryan Adams (I think).

With all due respect to anyone here who might have done that, I hate those things. I don't care enough about my own life to sit through a slide show of it, much less do I want to see your fiance when he was six and learning to ride a bike.

I've never really understood why people show it at weddings. Isn't it something more appropriate for birthday parties?

It's meant to give a history of the couple as singles and then as SO's, as sort of a prelude to their life together as man and wife. It's an opportunity to see what led them to the moment you're sharing with them.

I like them, personally, but I don't feel the need to have one. Anyone who's coming knows us well enough already.

We chose Angel Standing By, by Jewel as the song we danced to, but the introduction song was probably the most fun. We used Amazing Grace by the Drop Kick Murphys. You can hear a tidbit of it here if you scroll down, #15. It starts off very slow like the song normally does, with bag pipes and we had our parents and grandparents walk in then. When it starts to actually pick up is when we had the wedding party and ourselves introduced. For us, it was very fitting and started the reception off on the right (think party mode) foot

I always seen those at quinceñera parties. Never at a wedding.

Did I even spell that word right? That one's a toughy.

One thing I learned from mainland-born co-workers is that people up there don't do the thank you speech. At weddings in Hawaii the couple has this chunk of time where they thank everyone for coming, everyone who helped, they thank all the out of town guests for coming, etc. People at work were like, why do you do that?

Peace by Watermark ~sample here~

As a vocalist, I use this one when the bride says, "oh I don't know. You choose." I have never had a complaint. It would make an excellent first dance song.

I love what my cousin did at his wedding a few weeks ago. Its always a pain trying to pair up your wedding party and making the party balance out on both sides, but they fixed that and just played Sexy Back by Justin Timberlake. It was hilarious, as it was meant to be^^

Well we finally sat down and went through as much Wedding Music as possible. We decided on Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars for us and I went with Holly Cole's God Only Knows (Thanks Joph) for my mother and I Official Site. Now we just need to figure out a song for the wifey and her Dad.

Also, way back when, when you tied the knot, did you hold a special dance for either sets of parents? We really want her father and mother to get a moment because they have both been battling Cancer/Leukemia for two years now and have won.

The cool thing about weddings is that you can make it however you want. Just tell the DJ after such and such a dance you want your wifes parents to have their own. Let your parents find a song that suits them ;)

Sora, a piece of advice I got from my cousin. Have more then one song for you two. Your both gonna be kept really busy all night and not have much time for each other. I'm getting married in June and we have 5 songs that are for us to dance together. Of course the first one is the important one but the rest are just for us to get to be together without people interupting us.

Also, we have a friend that spins so we're having an after party at my father-in-laws and he's gonna spin for us there. All the old people will be gone so we can enjoy the house/trance/jungle music without feeling guilty.

I used to spin a lot of house in my younger years. I <3 my turn tables. I can even have sex while playing music. You've got to see it.

I've always thought that Stevie Wonder's "Isn't She Lovely", which he wrote for the birth of his daughter Aisha, was particularly lovely and not overly sappy.
