Given that once someone fails to succeed in a presidential bid, they virtually never get a second chance from their party

Yeah, Regan, Nixon, Bush Sr, LBJ, Carter...more than half the time, but virtually never.

Your grasp of political history never ceases to astonish.

Kerry has been accused of being a coward and a snob who looked down on his fellow GIs from people in his Unit in Vietnam. Perhaps this was a fruedian slip.

Back on topic.

Kerry's comments were about as damaging as I can imagine.

To Democrats, he's just given them a bigger mountain to climb.

To any wavering Republicans, he just confirmed the stereotype about 'demmies hate our troops' and sent 'em back to the arms of Bush.

To diehard Conservatives, he's given them enough ammo to tar all democrats with the same brush. FUcking ******.

Right, they just need to tone the boyfucking down *slightly* and they'll be in good shape.

Best part is, that I bet half the voters can't even remember who that was now.

Oh, I don't know. "I dare you lazy rednecks to vote, I double dog dare you!" might have been worse.

Really though, this will have virtually no impact on anything. Undecided voters are morons, but they're not moronic enough to let this be a deciding factor. It'll be out of the news cycle completely by election day.

Neph, I was serious.

Kerry fuCked up. He might as well have dug his own grave with that statement. His tantrum and swearing not to apologize made it that much worse. People would rather see Hillary Clinton in office before having another blubbering idiot sitting in the oval office. To Clinton's benifit, besides having a lecherous husband, I really can't say too many things bad about her.

This country will elect a black woman right about the time schools start requiring students to wear "Christ Sucks" tee shirt uniforms.

Condoleeza fits in with the theme of "who will run". We have an idea who the blue states could vote for, but what about the red? While I admit I think there is still a majority that has a hard time imagining a woman president, I don't think its a stretch to say that race won't be as much of an objection any longer. She fits the bill. She's the new Colin Powell. I could definantly see her in the presidential running within the next 15-20 years. I think she could even win.

Zero chance she'll run. Zero.

Don't follow politics very closely, I guess. A black man would never, ever, ever, ever make it through the Republican primaries in 2008.

She fits the bill. She's the new Colin Powell.

What the hell does that mean? He'd have no shot of making it through the primaries, either. Or did you mean she was the new person that idiots who still vote Republican even though the party doesn't stand for anything they believe in anymore dream would run while spreading broken glass on their kitchen floor and rolling around in it between elections?

I could definantly see her in the presidential running within the next 15-20 years. I think she could even win.

When she's 70? Sure. Seems likely.

The allure to Powell once upon a time was that people thought of him as something of an independant. That's why he effectively killed his political chances when he shilled for Bush at the U.N. re: Iraq & WMDs.

No one has ever accused Rice of being anything but the President's Gal Friday.

I think with younger voters she'd have a chance. We arent as tied up in who is what color or sex. We see that she is smack dab in the heart of most of the ongoing world talks. We see her being more sane than Bush, but not as pussiefied as Kerry. I don't think she'd pull out of the war like I'm sure Kerry or Clinton would. I think we'd face some serious budget overhaul with Rice as well. Also, whites are fast becoming the minority in this country. It wont be long before someone who isnt white will be elected into office. Also with the increase of the population of women in the workforce, the increase of women in high power careers, it won't be a stretch for her to win on that front either.
