I think it boiled down to him thinking he'd score a quick zinger off the administration about how Iraq's been going and, in his zeal, didn't consider that there's living, breathing soldiers over there getting killed. Which is pretty fu
cking hard to believe from someone who actually served in combat.
I understand the criticism that military enrollment tends to "appeal" mainly to lower-middle income people looking for a set career or else lured into the Guard with thoughts of college money. But that's just it -- they're making money for COLLEGE. They already studied hard and are trying to make something of themselves.
