Where do you take your receipt?
In the bag:23 (46.9%)
With you:21 (42.9%)
My manservant does all the petty purchases:5 (10.2%)
Total:49

I'm bored, and I went shopping today for my Halloween costume (will post pics after Tuesday... maybe).

Receipt gets stuffed into the receipt+random crap part of my wallet, which gets cleaned out about once a month. Just in case I need them again, I guess, even though I almost never do.

In the bag, if they hand it to me I look at it like I have no idea what it is and then it gets cramned into my pocket with my money and later I wonder why the hell it's there. As for keeping the receipt, yea right, I'm a man, if I didn't need it I wouldn't have purchased it. Half the time I can't remember what I paid for groceries or whatever. I know if it's to much I will notice it at the time of purchase and I don't bother to worry about it otherwise.

My wallet has my driver's licence, two credit cards, an emergency twenty and a few business cards. Anything else is GAAAAaaaaaYYYYYYYY! What are you a woman with a purse Dano?

Mine get shoved into the front pocket of my purse until I can no longer fit my keys into it. By then the print has faded on some and they all have those fuzzy black creases on em. Smiley: grin

I work in a supermarket to make a little extra cash on the side, and it pisses me off when people don't take their receipt. Not as much because you need to remember what the hell you bought, but because you can't return the groceries without a receipt, not even if something's wrong with them.

And if - god forbid - something is wrong with your groceries and you didn't take the receipt, I just know you'll be back and you'll bring a whole lot of drama with you.

"What do you mean, I don't have a receipt? The stuff is bad, I can't eat it! Just give me my money back! What do you mean, you can't just do that? I was down here last week, don't you remember? So what if you've had a thousand customers since then, you must remember me! Jesus, you're too fucking dumb to be here, I want to see your supervisor. You ARE the supervisor? Well, give me my money back then! Look at it, I can't eat that! Yes, I bought it here, what do you think? NO, I DON'T HAVE THE FUCKING RECEIPT, I'M A GUY, OKAY?!!"

You won't believe the amount of shit you have to go through as a cashier or whatever the hell you call us. About a month ago, a man threw a bottle of shampoo in my sister's face because she didn't give him an extra discount on some toilet paper (she could've gotten fired if she had). The guy had a suit and a briefcase, probably worked at a bank somewhere, and he just lost it over a $0.20 discount on toilet paper.

Two things that one learns working retail:

1. Get an edjumacation.

2. People are complete ***holes.

don't bother me, just put it in the bag. Only time I will hold onto a receipt is when I buy something expensive or technical.

Jonwin may object to my vote, but then I rarely do the shopping anymore, so I have no idea of what he does with the receipts.

When I do shop, the receipts go into my wallet and toss months later, when I can't close it easily.

edit to place a few missing letters where they belong.

I can say with 100% certainty that I have never bothered returning anything to a grocery store. I've certainly never argued over a discount. In fact, I've probably been overcharged for crap in the past and never noticed it. Likely I wouldn't care if I did.

Actually that has little to do with being a guy as I do that too. I've even bought meat with it labeled as beef and got it home to find out it was pork. I called to let the store know in case others were mispackaged and someone could be allergic to the food, but I didnt return it. I cant ever see myself going back to complain about being overcharged for ten cents.

The only time I've ever taken something back to the grocers it was chicken. I had purchased it that day for a BBQ and when I got it home and opened the package the meat was rancid. I took it right back and the store exchanged it with no fuss.

With most purchases the receipt is quickly lost in the bag or my back pocket.

This one guy wanted a refund because the wine he had bought had gone sour or whatever happens to wine when it goes bad. I understand him, because he paid about $100 for it, but he didn't have the receipt. Is he a nancy for wanting a $100 refund? I don't think so, I mean, I'd want the refund as well. But he should've kept the receipt.

We were able to track down the cashier he had paid and we managed to do the refund without his receipt, but it took some phone calls and a lot of time. Had he brought the receipt it would've been stamp, stamp, signature, -$100, "Have a nice day, sir, and sorry for the inconvenience".

Receipts are the only proof you have of ever being in that particular store. It's not like we hand out receipts because we need to blow money on something nor is it because we expect you to change your mind about what you bought. And it sure as hell isn't because we want to challenge your masculinity. It's to make sure you can prove to us when and where you bought the item you want refunded.

And the least you can do when people want to help you out, because that's all we want to do when we ask if you want the receipt with that, is answer yes or no. Just ignoring the question won't make the women around you drool over your alpha male attitude, it'll just **** the cashier off. And he's the guy you're handing your money over to.

"No thanks" works too.

This is very simple. If you don't keep the receipt, don't try to take the crap back. If it is a large $ purchase and you don't keep the receipt, then you are a dumb a$$ who deserves to be cheated

I used to work at Radio Shack (3 years) and every-so-often we'd have people try to return things without a receipt. Most of the time it wasn't too big of a problem if it was a 'radio shack' brand, but the big brand returns were the funniest to reject.

customer: "I'd like to return this sony walkman"
me: "ok, do you have your receipt?"
customer: "no, but you guys sell it"
me: "that doesn't mean you bought it here"
customer: "oh..."

For whatever reason, some people think that because we sell the item we'll accept a return or warranty it no matter where they bought it. Sucks to be them.

On another note, if you're going to return something, keep the box, accessories, all manuals and make sure it's in good condition. One of my biggest pet peeves is when people bring the product back, no box or nothing, looking scratched and dirty and expect a refund.

If it's Walmart, they will. Last year I bought a "new" air humidifier from Walmart, that when I opened it the filter report light was already on, it came with no manual, it was all scratched up. and two of the lines on the LED panel were busted. New, my ***.

I have a friend in the clothing retail industry (he works at A&F, partially for the discount, but mostly for the chicks). Apparently, kids will take clothes out of the folding rooms or the return box, then go to another store and return them there without a reciept. Pure profit.

Most definitely in the bag. If it gets put in my pocket, I will end up just losing it. Then I will realize the shirt I bought won't fit, and I will be hooped. Oh yeah, in the bag.
