I would totally write a hypothetical book about it!

Quote:
O.J. Simpson is confessing. Hypothetically, that is.

The former football great, who was acquitted in criminal court 11 years ago of killing his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ron Goldman, reportedly has been paid a whopping $3.5 million to write about the double murder that shocked and riveted the nation in 1994, according to a detailed report in the new National Enquirer.

But Simpson is not actually confessing to the murder — rather, he’s writing a “hypothetical” book — which the Enquirer reports is tentatively being called “If I Did It.”

The early part of the book tells how Simpson fell in love with Nicole and how the marriage collapsed, reports the tab. He goes on, according to the article, to describe in gruesome detail the killing of his ex-wife and Goldman; he stipulates that the murder scenes are “hypothetical.” But, notes the tab, the descriptions are “so detailed and so chillingly realistic” that readers are left with little doubt as to what really happened.

That *******. I don't know how the Brown family has managed not to shiv him all these years.

Who knows if it's even true or if he recanted. Apparently it was The Enquirer who broke the story, and while sometimes true, their journalism isn't the most reliable. According to this entertainment blog, his lawyer denies it.

On Teh Juice's first visit to London after his acquittal, British satirist Armando Ianucci (A fine scottish name fer ye!) had himself filmed getting OJ's Autograph.

As soon as he got it, he opened the paper to reveal that OJ had unwittingly signed the bottom of a page which read "I Did It" in huge letters.

Niiiice Smiley: lol

Lol! I was just thinking the same thing...

Given that this is the same paper that reports on the "headless dog" type stories, I'd wait until something more substantial comes out before getting too far ahead on this one.

This crazy one-eyed old guy I used to know got arrested for having a still (WTF?) on his property even though no evidence of illegally produced alcohol was ever found.

He tells me that on the way to the police station he had to following conversation with the officers:

Quote:
Well, while you are at it, you might as well go ahead and arrest me for rape too!
Sir, did you rape someone?
No, but I've got the tools to do it.

Crazy old *******. He died a few years ago.

Werd. I've stood amazed for the last twelve years that somebody didn't off Simpson just for the notoriety of being able to say, "Yeah, I killed OJ." For as many wackos as there in this world it's stunning he has managed to stay alive all this time-- particularly since he shoves it in the public's face every few months like he's doing with this story.

Well, not many that do their own dirty work.

Maybe just the one, in fact.

NEW YORK -- After a firestorm of criticism, News. Corp. said today that it has canceled the O.J. Simpson book and television special "If I Did It."

"I and senior management agree with the American public that this was an ill-considered project," said Rupert Murdoch, News Corp. chairman. "We are sorry for any pain that his has caused the families of Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson."

A dozen Fox affiliates had already said they would not air the two-part sweeps month special, planned for next week before the book's publication.

when I first saw the "Breaking News: Simpson book, show cancelled" I thought they'd finally pulled the plug on Homer & Co. Smiley: laugh

I read it as "cancelled the TV special about the book". I knew that company owned Fox, but I didn't know it had also been responsible for publishing the book.

Doesn't OJ owe the Goldman family about a bajillion-thousand dollars because of that civil suit (and then OJ claiming that he had no cash)? I wonder if the profits from this could have been claimed by them.

Ron Goldman's dad already filed a claim against any profits. Mostly to keep them out of Simpson's hands, most likely.

I'm glad it was canceled, anyway. Failing to get the attention he craves might push him towards a real confession, not that it really matters anymore.

Good for that prick. Actually maybe it would have been more fun for it to be published and then someone could have shoved the pages down his throat and made him choke on it.
