In the spirit of Halloweenie, what is the scariest movie you've ever seen? I remember being scared of the Overlook hotel in the Shining, mostly because of those twin dead girls and that super creepy lady in the bathtub. That movie still freaks me out a little. Halloween is a classic. The white Shatner mask is creeptastic.

They just don't make 'em like they used to. Or I'm getting old.

The one that I can remember scaring me the most was Event Horizon. I don't think I'd be scared if I watched it now, but back when I first saw it in high school I went home and I couldn't fall asleep all night and eventually, I heard my dad getting up for work.

I'm pretty generic, Blade freaked me out. I hate scarey movies, even cheap generic ones.

Never seen Event Horizon, I don't think.

Oh, The Exorcist! I forgot that one. The first time I saw that movie I think I pee'd myself. Twice.

Recently the best "scary" movie was Pulse for me (although I didn't consider it to be very scary, the whole red duct tape thing kept me laughing throughout the entire movie). However, I love the Friday the 13th movies and Halloween. Never did care much for Nightmare on Elm Street. My favorite still has to be Night of the living dead, though.... pure classic.

Edit: How could I forget the Excorsist?

When I was about 9 I sneaked downstairs with my brothers (they would be 7 and 11) to watch "Dracula Prince of Darkness" while our parents slept.

We huddled on the sofa in terror.

The best part was when we waited for my youngest brother to fall asleep once we'd gone to bed. Dad's overcoat as a cape did the trick. Poor little bastages formed his forearms into a cross as he shrieked! Smiley: lol

As an adult, I can't say any movie has 'scared' me, although I still have nightmares about Michael Caine's american accent in 'Cider House Rules'.

Aye, I'll have to follow you on this one. Some things just aren't meant to be heard by human ears, eh?

Actually I don't know how I could have forgotten the Ring. I actually got a headache from watching that because I was so tensed up the entire time. I full on screamed when Samara came out of the tv.

Edited to include: Watching the end of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre in the middle of the night with my brother while my parents were out. Mind you we lived in the boonies so we were scared ******** at the time. We turned every light in the house on. :)

The ring didn't scare me at all. I watched through it without so much as a wince. I guess Tare hit it on the head when he said they don't make 'em like they used to.

The Haunting scared the hell out of me for some reason, I think it had to do w/all the little cherub and child faces all over the mansion.

I don't know why people think Event Horizon is scary. It came off more as a bad sci-fi movie with some horror elements to me.

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre freaked me out as kid.

Hmmm a thread about things I love. Halloween is my favorite time of the year. I grew up with horror movies so there's a few that are fantastic I can put up.

The Changeling
Session 9
Last House on the Left
What Ever Happened to Baby Jane
Suspiria
Dead Birds
Dellamorte Dellamore aka Cemetary Man

I could name alot more but I tend to get extremely long winded about horror movies Smiley: oyvey

Movies haven't scared me much since I played Fatal Frames 1-3 for the PS2. Scariest games ever, with the Silent Hills close behind.

I did watch The Exorcist when I was 10. I think it traumatized me for a time, I didn't watch any scary movies until about a year afterwards.

Poltergeist really scared the crap out of me when I first saw it. Then again, I was only 10 at the time. I had nightmares for a week.

After I watched Poltergeist I was seriously terrified of the tv. I also was freaked the hell out by the movie Critters and avoided my cat at all costs. I was also like 8 but still.

My dad took me to see Poltergeist at the theater. I was so scared I kept getting up and leaving the seating area. This was back in the day when you entered the theater and there was a small entryway that had a window you could see the screen through (who knows why).

I was squatting in this entryway under the window and decided to peek at the exact moment they pulled the rope and the big monster-thing popped out of the door. I screamed and ran into the lobby.

After holding back their laughter, the employees let me go sit in the theater showing ET and said they would let my dad know where I was...

I made the mistake of taking my shoes off during Arachnophobia. When the movie ended I didn't want to put them back on.

Actually having Rob Zombie do it might not be as bad as it sounds. House of 1000 Corpses was absolutely horrid, but Devil's Rejects I thought was a very good flick. So it's either going to be a complete and total waste or a fairly decent film. I'm hoping it turns out well because Halloween is probably my all time favorite slasher type flick.

The Exorcist bothered me for days. It's the only movie that's ever truly freaked me out.

The Shining the movie didn't bother me so much, but the book completely scared me to death.

Those two freaky little girls in the Shining were the only things that freaked me out. Well that and his wife's teeth. But those were the only two things that bothered me Smiley: lol

Agreed, on both counts - though "The Exorcist" is by no means the only movie that's ever freaked me out. I had nightmares the first time I saw "The Birds".

I was raised on horror, so most don't really do much for me.

Jacob's Ladder freaks me out the more I see it though.

There was a scene in Return of the Living Dead that made me shake uncontrollably for the rest of the night. I was about 11 or so. It was the scene where the Vietnam test zombie was released from the barrel.. something about the way he moved just freaked me out. I couldn't believe that I was even shaking at the time.

Wehn I was REALLY little I saw Clash of the Titans and remember having a nightmare about the talking statue head. That was kinda freaky for being like 4 or 5 years old.

When I was 7 the Wizard of Oz gave me nightmares, I thought the wicked witch of the west had come to get me with her flying monkeys!!

Dead Birds was cool, though it lost me at certain points.

Scream scared me at the time as I hadn't seen a scary movie in ages and I lived in a house that looked a lot like Cindy's house.
