You want a time waster? www.zillow.com.

Type in an address, see a satellite image of said address, see tax info, sales in the last 7 yrs, sq footage, etc. Pretty cool 10 yr estimate of price changes, including a month to month assessment.

Some major limitations: Old photos, at least 1-2 yrs in some cases. No info if the house hasn't been sold recently.

This, combined with the Zip realty on a different site to compare "zestimates" with the asking price.

Enjoy.

I use that for my work. It's an easy way to start figuring out the net worth of people who owe back child support and claim they have no means of paying. Also been using it for my own use since husband and I are in the beginning stages of house hunting.

Nifty.

The good news is that my home is "zestimated" to be worth 20% more than I had paid for it. The bad news is that this is a "zestimate".

I hate that damnedable site. My wife will sit there for hours and look up house worths for just about everyone she knows...

and then proceeds to tell me about her findings.

I hate it too. It doesn't work for Canada. Smiley: glare

Pretty cool - the only problem is the houses in the SF bay area have dropped dramatically this year. These zestimates might have been valid 2 years ago, but no way are they as high as listed now.

Which is actually a good thing, since we still have to wait before we can buy our house...
