Some of you occasionally read...Follow

I once read a story about this hot blonde girl and smoking hot philipino girl making sexual passses at one another. I remember it vividly like it was yesterday.

Anyone remember the author by chance? I really like to meet her.

Ugh, creepy. That one has come to mind now and again since I read it back in maybe intermediate school. Thanks Nexa!

Always happy to help relive the traumas of youth! I've had nightmares about that damn book myself.

I read this short story when I was in 8th grade and every few years I think of it but I can't remember the name or the author. I've tried searching the web for it, but no luck.

Here is what I think I remember about it:

It starts with some people having a ritual or something and a kid falls through a hole
The kid ends up on earth (apprently he is not from earth)
He can hear people's thoughts, but this is common where he is from and he doesn't think anything of it. When the earth people figure out he can do this, they get scared, he can hear them being scared, vicious cycle ensues.
I think his mind reading ability also allows him to communicate with animals
I have no idea what this story is, but I'd like to read it again. Are any of you guys familiar with it? I could be remembering some parts of it incorrectly, but I think I have the basic premise correct.

I don't remember the name but I believe it is a Dean Koontz book.

Well good news and bad news Nexasaurus. Good news is that there is an archived copy at the Carnegie Mellon University library. Bad news is that because it's "archived" it's not for sale and can only be used inside the library and cannot be taken off it's grounds.

The halfway good news is the librarian at CMU said that she had heard of a compilation of stories from the magazine that has been released in a hardback edition. Problem is the title of the book does not have the title of the magazine and she could not remember the name of it. She is still looking for it but with no title to go on it's going to be tough.

18 seconds tough. Hell of a librarian, your mom.

At any rate, I think what Nexa had in mind was a full text copy of it somewhere online. $4 is a lot in Maine when you have to spend $500 a month on lobster repellent.

I know several use book sellers that may have copies, since the hardback is one of those books that seem to always sitting on someones selves in the dealer room at most SF/Fanstasy conventions. Any book at the SF book cub carried is easy to find as most nerds have been a member for at least a year or two.

I may even have a copy lost in some box of books, I haven't open in years.

It's the principle! I don't even *want* to own it, I just want to read it once!

Also: Why on earth would anyone want to repel lobsters? They are delicious.

That's one of the only good things about living in Maine, it's silly with lobsters! I walk out on my deck and grab one just about every morning, and I don't live anywhere near the ocean! It's like muppet hunting.

Bill Cosby did not think so in "Leonard Part 6." Thank goodness he was carrying a stick of butter.

Try Alexander Key - not sure of the title but it might have had Door in it somewhere. Definitely Key, though.
