So for you Sci-Fi buffs who enjoyed the recent series of Doctor Who (Chris Eccleston and David Tennent), you HAVE to watch Torchwood.

Think of it as an 'R' Rated version of Dr Who.

Captain Jack Harkness (from recent Dr Who episodes) now leads a secret anti-alien agency in Cardiff (That's right - Welsh Sci Fi FTW!) called 'Torchwood'.

The violence is extreme, the sex is explicit, and the language is pretty coarse.

My favoUrite lines:

Harkness: So who has been ordering Pizza Deliveries using the codename 'Torchwood' Smiley: oyvey
Owen: (looking sheepish) Er... That'd be me. Sorry. I'm a ****.

No spoilers. Just watch it.

It's on BBC2 wednesday I believe, already programmed the VCR!

'R' rated style you say? That explains why it's on fairly late and on BBC2, 9 pm (UK time) isn't exactly that early, which indicates that they migth not be aiming at that young an audience.

It does suck not having BBC Three naturally, I'ld have seen it already (and lots more interesting stuff) if I did. Might consider going digital or satellite and getting it that way, but that's wishful thinking.

Before then, it's kept clean-ish for the kiddyblinkies.

After that, doesn't matter if it's 9pm or 1am, Beeb is allowed to break the fUcking swear filter and show teh bewbies

I don't have nearly as much time to watch TV as I used to. Wish I did, because there are a lot of good shows, but not having a TV in the kitchen is really cutting back on my time. I watch my soap, but that's ending soon, so maybe that'll free up the 7-8pm slot.

Tivo is King. Record all the shows you want. Watch them when you have the time and delete. Plus if you are watching live, you have pause it if you have to do something or rewind if you mised something. Add fast-forwarding through commercials just rocks.

So I've heard, but I don't want to pay any more subscription fees than I already do. It's a good thing. I would watch waaaay too much TV otherwise, and since my job is so stressful, it would be like 20 episodes of Flava of Love or some such.

For me it was always Patrick Troughton (Jon Pertwee was a bit too foppish for the role, and after Troughton, the plots got more silly).

That said, Chris Eccleston was outstanding - a balance between menace and vulnerability. Poor David Tennant had a hard act to follow, but so far he's pretty good.

Again, the scripts make the difference. Russel T Davies has brough back an edginess we hadn't seen since the early 70s.

That reminds me that a few years back I pondered if I'd been scared of Dr Who in the 60s because I was ickle or because it really was scary back then. When they repeated a few early (Wm Hartnell & Patrick Troughton) series, I realised that it was pretty scary.

Oh, did I mention? Watch Torchwood!

Speaking of which, have you ever played "Dr. Who" (a.k.a. the "hey song" in hockey) on a kazoo whilst getting a hummer? That's an R rated version of Dr. Who too.
