Stupid baby namesFollow

Can it get stupider than this?

Quote:
A Mississippi man has named his first born son after a television sports channel and an American football star.

Leann Real of D'lberville promised her sports-mad husband, Rusty, that he could name their son.

So, when the little boy arrived at the Biloxi Regional Medical Centre, Rusty Real had no hesitation in calling the baby ESPN Montana Real

It could've been worse. He could've called her "E! Entertainment Channel".

Ot the guy that named his daughter using the first and last names of the entire 1979 Liverpool football team.

I'm afraid that one day, using "stupider" may become the norm. Drives me nuts, though. I also hate "ain't". But it's in the damn dictionary. Smiley: motz

Well, those two-syllable words are always tricky. One accepts "stupidest", as in "this is the stupidest thing I've written in a while", so logically one should accept "stupider", as in "this sentense is stupider than the previous one". There is no doubt that "more stupid" and "most stupid" would fit just as well, if not better than the aforementionned exemples. This, however, is not to say that they are grammatically incorrect. Indeed, "stupider" is in the dictionnary.

But, thats double-syllabled words for you.

So, in answer to your fixed question, yes, I can.

Regardless, in my opinion naming a baby "ESPN" trumps any slight grammatical misuse by a non-native English speaker.

My dad wanted to name my sister (if she was a he) David America xxxxxx, after a relative who fought in the Revolutionary War. Luckily, mom vetoed that, and any name choices he might have suggested in the future.
