Like Jophiel said, it's getting close to a week since the Forum was stable.

Will someone at least explain why this place sucks monkey balls?

Trying to post replies 6 fUcking times is enough to try the patience of Job.

Ficks the FUcking Servers!!

I'll be awaiting my 60.8¢ refund for these past 5 workdays, thank you.

In other news I have gotten a weeks worth of work done in record time.

It's not the time that I mind so much as the ****-poor customer service. I mean, I know we rag on you and all, but not every paying customer is an Asylumite. A nice sticky warning us ahead of time of the scheduled upheaval would have been nice. Routine updates on this same sticky would have been nice. The fact that this place still works like ***, coupled with being totally in the dark about it and given as little information as possible is what drives me bonkers.

I would have posted a lot sooner but my refresher keeps timing out and I got tired of waiting.
Seriously this is just awful. Not just the forums but the site in its entirety. EQ2 stats has been left to collect dust despite promises months ago that things were changing. The forums are continuously on its deathbed with no info as to why by anyone high up, even in the forum feedback section. While a timeline may not be feasible to give us, the community, of when things will be working right again due to the fact you may not know, I agree with Fleas sentiment that at least some info should be given out so we have an idea of why this place is having issues. Who knows, maybe we might even by slightly sympathetic. Doubtful, but its some incentive.

Ive come to the conclusion this week that I have no patience for this anymore. CS has gone downhill along with stability. I thought when Allas was bought out things would be better? At least that was the spin a few months ago. I've seen nothing to back this up and even more evidence against such a spin

I will amend my last statement to disclude Kao and Dana, as I know they have been working hard and are the only admins to give us any info when info can be given. Besides, here, they're more like one of the boys.

I have until the end of December before my premium runs out. No clue on whether I'll renew or not.

Nobs, can you cut DF off from all physical favors until the site is up and running smoothly?

You'll notice that Danalog and I have hardly posted in asylum for the last week. We're busy doing everything we can to get things working in a more timely manner.

You and every other board is asking for updates and such. Sorry, but if I did that I'd spend my entire day posting updates and not actually trying to get to the bottom of what's so fecked up.

I know it's frustrating, but it's the best I can do.

Is this like when an MMO goes down for the day and all you read on the MMO forums is "This MMO sucks! I want credited the lost day or I'm guuna quit!", 'cause that would be awsome. Sad, but awsome.

He has already done that, 4500 miles does make for horrible sex! Oh wait, I have to do MY OWN favors thank you very much.

And you guys think you are the only ones ********* I haven't been able to get my mail since last week, and the only one who took time to help was another admin and he couldn't get it to work either. So, I took the day off! I have been out of town twice this month and since I haven't been here, I have no fecking clue what is wrong. I have my suspicions however...

Please note: DF HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE SERVERS, now if they are hot and vibrating, that would be another story.

Bull. There are 7 main forums on this site, including forum feedback, Asylum, and the Sandbox. How hard is it for one admin to make a temporary sticky thread in each of those 7 forums, and lock it, explaining there is obviously massive issues going on, people are working on them, and as soon as you have hard evidence that it is almost fixxed, that someone will let us know? As it stands now, everyone is bitching on every forum because no one is taking the time to acknowledge and address the issue to the community.

This site has been popular for a reason that has nothing to do with the gaming site. As I stated previously EQ2 could basically rot and no one would take notice except for the small few people who religiously still go to the forums. It has to do with the people who post here on a regular basis. Its called the community. Not too long ago the regulars felt they could easily chat with, ask questions, poke, and get answers from admins. That's all gone out the window lately though except for a small minority, and it fucking sucks! Alla used to come here often to shoot the shit. Its been months since Ive seen him and the only place I ever see him is in WoWs main forums. Everyone else has either clammed up or knows nothing that can help give us the info we as a community need.

People are already leaving the forums for good. I only hope that things can be straightened out, both in the sites stability and the closeness this site once had before even more decide to jump ship

I post things as I find them out myself. I'm always available by PM, and as always we try to keep official announcementd in the feedback forum so that we don't miss one in other forums and have people get mad at us when we forget to update it.

Danalog, nizdar, Illia, Rale have all been putting in very long hours on getting the new servers up and running. We're operating on all new servers, at a new ISP, and we are having growing pains. it is my understanding that the existing servers are yet to be integrated with the new ones, and I think, but am not 100% sure that they are still in transit. One of the other admins, feel free to correct that if I am missinformed. There have been issues with the new ISP that have been outside our control. Things like that are getting resolved, and I know you are all frustrated, but once things start getting back to normal everythign should improve substantially.

As to some of the other admins, Allakhazam, etc not posting in the forums as much, alot of that stems from the whole merger thing. There was alot of negativity directed at all the admins, especially Allakhazam over that. After the 6th or 7th time I myself got caught up in that mess I too was considering staying out of the forums. There was a hell of alot of **** flung from that.

At any rate, if there is anything specific you want to know, if i know the answer let me know and I'll try to fill you in.

As a fellow IT guy I can certainly sympathize with the admins. When the proverbial Shit hits the fan, if you stop to update someone on what's going on and what the status is every time someone calls (or in this case posts) you'd never get anything done. You just want to block it out, tell people to fUck off, and when it gets fixed it gets fixed.

As a regular poster, it's annoying to come back daily after several days and keep getting time-outs, hangups, and errors. However, it's understandable that at times these things happen. What would be better for both sides, is for someone to be designated to do as DSD mentioned. Post the best update you can, make sure it's visible (sticky) even if it's only in the forum feedback. I wouldn't expect a post in every damn forum, but one would be enough. I know when my network has problems we send out a site-all email (assuming of course email isn't the problem, then it's announced on the PA across the building) giving a brief description of the problem and assure people that we are working on it. Hell, most times we don't even give an ETA, we just say that we hope to have it resolved ASAP.

Something like that, for instance. Stickied in the feedback forum and everyone would know you guys are trying to implement the new servers and things are hokey but being worked.

Ummmm...yeeahh. If I were actually paying for this crap, I'd be pretty pissed off right about now. As it is, not even the occasional popups that manage to wriggle their way through FireFox can make me regret letting my premium lapse.

Though...they do try.

Heh, I threw a tantrum over this yesterday. Since I'm just a lowly Content Monkey the only difference between us is that I get to ***** directly at them in IRC (usually with little result) instead of this thread, which by the way took 3 minutes to loade.

Kao summed it up; we just have to be patient. Hopefully when everything is complete it won't take 5 minutes to update one item. >.<

Alla can't reply. He's too busy out spending all his Zam money. I too, was one on the naysayers when the merger was announced. I decided to renew my premium because we, the community was assured that things would be great. Obviously, I'm currently rethinking that position. I don't blame Kao, Dana, DF, or even Nizdaar for this Mickey Mouse BS. They're just paid monkeys in the program.

That's crap.

Ok let me rephrase. If people were expecting an immediate response every time a complaint about the ongoing problems was posted then it would be right on. But since all people seem to be asking for here are periodic updates on a stickied/dedicated thread or location - your comment is complete *********

If Kao's posting on the feedback forum, that rocks. I have no idea where that forum is. Course I'm also experiencing no usability problems either. I just thought the IT pat "If I told you what was happening I couldn't fix it" statement was absurd. IT folks say this all the time, in the situation or in solidarity and often all it really means is "I don't know what the hell is going on, but I can't admit that." Or, more often, "I'm doing what I'm doing, and I don't really have to tell you shit so live with it until it works."

It's probably worth mentioning that while we've had the worst useability problems we've had messages on every single page stating that we were in the middle of server maintenance.

We know exactly what the problem is. Telling the userbase what that problem is would be meaningless to 99% of them though. It boils down to the fact that the forums are slow as hell, as is any page that shows comments. We're doing everything we can to improve their performance until we can fix it outright.

Are we doing the best job that we can at letting the users know at what is up? Probably not. We are trying our best though. Don't take our lack of communication for lack of caring. I've seen 4am far too many nights/mornings in the last week or two while we try to work on things when the sites are less busy. Don't feel bad, I ignore pretty much everyone when I have something in my head in regards to servers/programming that I want to keep straight. You aren't being left out in that regard. Smiley: grin

Stealing from macro miners in EVE is a favourite past-time of mine. Blowing them up is even more fun. If we were part of IGE, I'd probably get fired for stealing from the company I work for.

Not too far off schedule, only about 6 weeks.

Here's to hoping that it won't take you long to get settled and start implementing all the promised changes (EQ2, EVE online, Zam.com etc).
