John Entwistle or Geddy Lee.

Seeing how the Big E, Marvin and Keith are dead, I'd still go with Entwistle first.

I tried to post this yesterday and couldn't - but when the commercial first cued, I thought it was going to be a band "made in heaven", so to speak: all band members who have passed on.

If it had been, obviously Entwistle would have been my choice.

As it is, I'd go with Tina Weymouth over Crow, assuming they wanted a female bass player.

So, who would your choices be for a heavenly band?

On bass.. (not necessarily dead)

James Jamerson
Larry Graham
Stanley Clarke
Jaco Pastorius
Flea
Les Claypool
John Entwhistle
Victor Wooten
hell, even Sting

...but Sheryl Crow? She's cute and she writes nice little pop tunes, but did anyone here even know she played the bass?

I had no idea that Sheryl Crow plays the bass. None whatsoever.

Also, my first pick for (still alive) bass player would be Chris Squire. Or Flea. Depends whether or not you want slap bass.

Elvis has been dead longer than I have been alive but man, there is a moment in that video when he smiles when the drummer interrupts him that made my heart go pitter pat. Had just a flash of understanding about why people didn't want to believe he died.
