Sorry if my English isn't that good.

This meant that there may be more (critical state).

But I think you know what I meant.

so I guess that they allowed these Amish to be flown out in helicoptors and have them in a mdern hospital, as opposed to wheeling them to the apothacary on a wagon?

waht's up with that? or am I wrong that that's not supposed to be allowed?

I wondered the same thing, especially when I heard the count was up to 6 due to one of the children being taken off life support. I've seen Amish folk in the hospital before, so I can't think it's they renounce medical treatment as a whole, but perhaps just artificial means of prolonguing life, like an iron lung or some such.

My understanding (and I'm no expert) is that Amish prohibitions against technology are more a cultural issue and an attempt to keep their lives simple and devoted to their community and faith. However, it isn't the same as those sects who refuse medicine because they believe it shows a lack of faith in God's ability to heal. In an emergency, I'm sure an ambulance ride would be perfectly acceptable.

Here's a recent article discussing how 'community' phone booths are on the rise in Amish and Mennonite communities since pay phones (their old option) are harder to find.

Amish people aren't denied the benefits of technology, they're just not allowed to use them themselves. So they can go to the hospital, but not be modern doctors using MRIs etc, and they can ride in cars, but not drive them.

The Amish were actually forced to put electic lighting on their horse drawn buggies for safety while traveling on roads.

Not sure if ya'll have seen this update...

Here's my question... He's 32, and says he molested "young girls decades ago." And another report mentioned that he was "acting out in revenge" for something done 20 years ago.

Well... wouldn't he be 12 two decades ago? Is it possible to "molest" someone when you're only 12?

Sure it is. Granted, the young man in question here s 19 instead of 12, but he easily could have been. Do you honestly think twelve year olds are incapable of engaging in molestation?

No, I guess not... 12 just seems so long ago to me it's hard to wrap my feeble mind around it.

That, and I just don't want to admit that it could happen so young.

And sex with a puppy??? Wow... At least a Smiley: goat, not a puppy.
