Autumn in Michigan is usually a spectacular mix of unpredictable weather and brilliant color, and even though I always feel like moving West by March, I truly love it here. Halloween, in particular, wouldn't be the same any other place.
However, thanks to a week of late nights, drinking more than I should, and a brief but intense series of dates, I'm now suffering though a nasty head cold which makes it a little more difficult to appreciate the season. Today, however, I forced myself to go to the Ren Fest, despite the constant drizzle and 50-degree temps. Suprisingly, it was one of the most memorable visits to the festival I've ever experienced. There were very few people there (comparatively, since it draws around 300k + each year), and the weather gave the festival a very unique feel. The hot food tasted better, as did the wine and beer, and being forced to wear warm clothes somehow really enhanced the experience. It's a far cry from last year, when it was 80+ and clouds of dust followed us everywhere we went.
