I'm sure it is.

Of course, she wasn't here for the first year of my non-smoking so it would have been insanel easy to cheat if I felt so inclined. With that said, she was amazingly supportive throughout and listened to a lot of cranky Jophiel phonecalls for those first three weeks or so.
I think it's so romantic that she stuck with you when you quit smoking and stopped looking cool.

That's why he bought the Member's Only jacket. Nothing says cool like a Member's Only jacket. Well, maybe a regular jacket that said "cool" on it, but that's about it.

I have one of those, but the vomit down the lapels detracts from the overall 'je ne sais quois'

Actually, I quit about 1.5 years ago after about twelve years of sending the Marlboro Man's kids through college. What I just described is exactly how I did it. I mean, yeah, I ******* a lot and it sucked but that was how I quit.

I had read somewhere that any bad habits you take into your thirties are much more
(statistically) likley to remain with you therest of your life. Bullshit statistic or not, it worked for me. Admittedly, I was being a dick when i mentioned nicotene gum or the patch, after 10 years of smoking I was lucky to not have been physically addicted (much). I just quit, and that was that. I realize it's not nearly so easy for some.

It takes a real man to openly admit to that. Smiley: thumbsup

Take pride in what you're doing. That's the most important thing to remember. It'll get you through those tempting evenings and the long workdays.

You control your body. It's all in your head.

It's been over a week for me since I quit. Yes, I've "cheated". I've bummed one from someone at work a few times. But each time I did, it tasted horrible and made me feel sick. But even with the cheating, the cravings are getting less and less. And I've had no desire to buy a pack and start up again.

Like everyone else said - you just have to decide that it's time to quit and suck it up. I didn't want to use the gum or the patch, because I know if I'm getting a constant dose of nicotine, I'll never be able to quit fully.

You can always come here and ***** at Kelvy and me. Since we're going through it too.

Nads, baby, say it ain't so!!!!

j/k

I've definatly "cheated" as well. But honestly, it's not a game I'm playing with myself,, there are no points to lose if I "cheat", it is just the way it is.

yesterday, all day at work I had nothing. I got home and bummed one off of someone.... I felt like ****.
Then a friend came over and I smoked a FEW...
But then he left and I certainly could have walked my jonesing *** across the street and buy a pack.... but I did not.

Right now it's easier in the morning... waking up and just going all day.
I think it's wehn I start geting tired that my body misses my accelerated heart-rate that was caused by the nicoteen. For that reason during the day I've been intaking alot o caffeine. Surprisingly it seems to help, as it balances out my heart rate to near smoker-levels.....
It's funny , cause ususally any sip of a coffee or a mountain dew makes me instatnly crave.

one pieve of advice.. if you are going to cheat and smoke. make sure you do not enjoy it.
DO NOT cheat and smoke after a meal, after sex, or any other time wehn you normallyu would smoke by habit. Break that cycle.

It is getting less dificult.... but it don't get easy...

One day.... soon... you'll reaslize that you haven't thought about smoking for like 10 whole minutes!!! and that is progress.

Why am I awake at 10 in the Saturday morning? I've become a very light sleeper without smoking.

/agree

I had a "cheat" after a meal once, and it almost wrecked me. Now after I eat if I really need something, I chew gum. Seems to be working. And after sex, I just go to sleep Smiley: grin

someone once told me this: you can not quit smoking until you are ready.

i have been smoke free for many years, but it took a few attempts. every time i tried those "quit smoking XXXXXX" i failed. when i went cold turkey i succeeded.

good luck.
