This isn't for me you understand. I have this. . . friend. Yeah. A friend. Not me. No.

My friend has downloaded a compressed torrent in order to create a DVD, but he doesn't understand some of the terminology.

He now has a folder containing a bunch of .rar files (about 2.5Gb).

He says he's supposed to uncompress, mount and burn it.

He has uncompressed the .rar's and now has a new folder with a big-*** (3.4Gb) file with the extension '.iso'

What now? He assumes this needs 'mounting', and his willy won't fit into the DVD slot, so guesses it's a technical term that he has to undertake before burning onto a DVD.

Like I say, it's not me. It's a. . .

yeah

Did you friend try just dragging the .iso file on top of the DVD drive in the "my computer" folder?

Dunno. Assuming it's windows, it'll probably figure out what you *cough* your friend wants to do.

You need a tool like deamon tools to mount the ISO file on. It acts like a vitural CD/DVD drive and once you mount the image ...I mean when you friend mounts the image it SHOULD auto run and play. If not you can right click on the icon in the task bar and run thru the options there.

deamon tools are good, but i do like Alcohol 120% better. its not free, but if you know were to look...

http://www.alcohol-soft.com/

when people talk about MOUNTING, they are normally coming from the MAC world or from Linux. most likely Linux is where they are coming from. both OSs have the NATIVE ability to mount file types including standard .ISO file types.

that being stated use something like Nero or EZ CD creator to BURN the .ISO to a DVD. in most cases if you have one of those programs installed all he would need to do is double click the .iso file and it will open up the burning software and start the process for him/you.

good luck and enjoy.

FYI with the newest vs of Alcohol 120% if you also have nero installed it will do it all, burn, copy, mount file types all from within Alcohol. very nice tool.

Thanks all

My. . . friend. . . got it to work

It's actually a game, not a movie

He says it's pretty neat (and Nero happily turned the ISO into a DVD by itself) YAY!
