Because computer voyeurism is always fun and it's too soon for another "Post your desktop" thread...

Take your music folder on your computer or your iPod or whatever, hit Shuffle/Random and post the first ten tracks that come up. No massaging your results to try to sound more hip or cool than your tracks imply. Feel free to give embarassed "That's only there because..." disclaimers though.
My Music Folder wrote:
The Cars - "Drive"
Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young - "Teach Your Children Well"
Liz Phair - "Go On Ahead"
Billy Joel - "Goodnight Saigon"
Violent Femmes - "American Music"
Cheap Trick - "I Want You to Want Me"
Joan Osborne - "Safety in Numbers"
Cowboy Junkies - "Witches"
Republica - "Drop Dead Gorgeous"
Holly Cole - "I Don't Want to Grow Up"
Apparently, my music folder rejects songs recorded after 1998 or so Smiley: grin

Oh, and honorable mention to #11, Oran 'Juice' Jones - "The Rain"

#1, Metallica, Seek and Destroy

#2 Tom Jones, Spanish Eyes

#3 The Clash, London Calling

#4 Lil Wayne, Fireman

#5 Snoop Doggy Dogg, Gin 'n' Juice

#6 The Three Degrees, When Will I See You Again

#7 Babyface, Whip Appeal

#8 T-Pain, I'm Sprung

#9 Duran Duran, Rio

#10 House of Pain, Jump Around

Bah, fast-fowarding through, my yet to be burned "random" folder.

P.S. Hi Joph.

Identifying with pretty much only The Cars, Drive. Trade that Joan Osbourne for some Ozzy Osbourne, Bark At the Moon, and delete the rest of that $hit, for your personal growth, 'bro.

Edit, whoops, ok-ok, Cheap Trick Want You Want Me and Violent Femmes American Music are respectably out of date(z). Light those candles with a lighter.

Well, starting with the current song in Winamp (29 hours in the current playlist, including like 5 full albums)...

Winamp wrote:

Tom Grant, Private Beach (album: Mango Tango)
Kansas, Hopelessly Human (album: Point of Know Return)
Green Day, American Idiot (full album)
Blondie, Heart of Glass (album: Parallel Lines)
Kansas, Point of Know Return (album: again, Point of Know Return)
Mr. T, Fly Through The Night (from Beatmania IIDX 6th Style)
John Mellencamp, Your Life Is Now (album: John Mellencamp)
Smash Mouth, Then The Morning Comes (album: Astro Lounge)
Jackson Browne, Lawyers in Love (album: Lawyers in Love)
Elton John, I've Seen That Movie Too (album: Goodbye Yellow Brick Road)

Hm. A bit all over the place, though with an emphasis on late 70s and early 80s.

To the guy who listed 3 Rush songs and another by Moby, I know people who've gotten together "over-the-internet" {to record, produce, and distribute to the attendees} to play like they were in a D&D bard Rush party. All I gott say is, f-r-e-a-k-y.

Rejection's hardest hit, found Rush.

Actually, he listed four Rush songs. Unfortunately, since none of them were "Tom Sawyer", "YYZ", or "Free Will", his playlist obviously bears no resemblance to a classic rock station.

Compare with the current breakdown of my playlist, by artist (3 or more songs represented only):

The Alan Parsons Project: 4
Annie Lennox: 4
Barenaked Ladies: 3
Blue Oyster Cult: 7
Dire Straits: 9; also, "What It Is" by Mark Knopfler from "Sailing To Philadelphia"
The Eagles: 3 + 1 album; also, "Life's Been Good To Me So Far" by Joe Walsh
Elton John: 18 + 1 album
Genesis: 5, all w/Phil Collins (need to get some Genesis w/Peter Gabriel here); also, "In The Air Tonight" by Phil Collins
Guns 'n Roses: 5
Kansas: 12 + 1 album
Jethro Tull: 3
Men at Work: 3
Ozzy Osbourne: 3
Pink Floyd: 2 + 1 album (The Wall)
The Police: 12
R.E.M: 8
The Replacements: 3
Smashing Pumpkins: 3
Styx: 3
Supertramp: 4 + 1 album
Three Doors Down: 3
Tom Grant: 6
The Who: 3

for 134 songs out of 295 (assorted J-pop, trance, and techno makes up about 10% of the playlist).

Scary when that large of a portion of the music I listen to was made before I was born (1982).

Ermmm... yeah, it's my favorite band. Smiley: blush

But to be fair, they have a pretty good statistical shot at being represented multiple times in a random sample of 10 songs. They have like 262 songs over the last 32 years, and still going.

I <3 the challenge, but I had more in mind for a hard-core pre-warm-up together, a drum solo, a bass solo, and The Trees. And you forgort Spirit of the Radio.

The rest of your selections I could probably find passing interest in, in a post-sort-of- revolutionary-decline- way, which is relatively "good".

Creedence Clearwater Revival - Bad Moon Rising
Metallica - Master of Puppets
Ludacris - Stand Up Dirty
Cream - Born Under a Bad Sign
Sublime - Date Rape
Beastie Boys - Body Movin'
Five Pointe O - Freedom
Silverchair - Ana's Song
CKY - Inhuman Creation Station
Foo Fighters - Live-In Skin

I'm pretty sure that the only reason the Ludacris song is on there was because of a friend of mine downloading music to listen to while we were drinking. Then again, I can't remember (probably because I was drunk), so I might have downloaded it myself for all I know.

Well, if you're as hot as that picture in your avitar, I might have a slight recollection, Mrs. Senator.

Other than that, I'll give your selections 6/10 stars with the spoiler warning that I was warned about listening to anything by Sublime, ever, b/f I even wondered why anyone would say something like that in specific regards to something like that.
