Clinton bashes Fox News IN THE FACEFollow

If you haven't seen it, this is pretty nice.
http://thinkprogress.org/2006/09/22/clinton-fox/

It makes me all nostalgic about a time when we had a president that could make complete sentances ; ;

"CLINTON: So you did FOX’s bidding on this show. You did you nice little conservative hit job on me. But what I want to know.."

"but I want to know how many people in the Bush administration you asked this question of. I want to know how many people in the Bush administration you asked: Why didn’t you do anything about the Cole? I want to know how many you asked: Why did you fire **** Clarke? I want to know…

WALLACE: We asked…

CLINTON:…

WALLACE: Do you ever watch Fox News Sunday sir?

CLINTON: I don’t believe you ask them that.

WALLACE: We ask plenty of questions of…

CLINTON: You didn’t ask that did you? Tell the truth.

WALLACE: About the USS Cole?

CLINTON: Tell the truth.

WALLACE: I…with Iraq and Afghanistan there’s plenty of stuff to ask."

Apparently, Fox is going to air the whole interview this sunday! I'm guessing they decided that since it's already all over the blogosphere, they'd hurt themselves worse if they chopped it up to make him look bad like the usually do.

All I can say is wow, the democrats need to take a lesson from the big dog. Get some balls and maybe people will follow you!

For the first time ever I agree with Slick Willie. While Clinton doesn't get off the hook either, as he was president for nearly 6 months after the Cole attack, the Bush Administration also sat with their thumbs up their asses and I think they do need to be questioned about this as harshly as Billy Boy.

This is from an interview (here, its pretty good, people should read it) of Bill Clinton by Tom Brokaw.

"Then when the Cole happened — I thought we had to go in with a military response.

But it was October of 2000. I had three months left to go. And the FBI and the CIA had not jointly certified bin Laden's responsibility until I left office. Had I been there then, I would've ordered military action of some kind. Because I don't think there was any option to do that. And I've been talking about this for years as you know. And way back in '96, I said that this would be the great scourge of our time, the whole terrorism threat and their efforts to get weapons of mass destruction.

So, it would've been my judgment that, if I'd been sitting there and they said, "Okay, they did it and we finally can certify it," I think I would've had no choice but to order some sort of military action."

But it was October of 2000. I had three months left to go. And the FBI and the CIA had not jointly certified bin Laden's responsibility until I left office (thank's to George T.). Had I been there then, I would've cut military spending of some kind again, then fired a rocket into a barn in Egypt. But I don't think there was any option to do that. And I've been hiding from this for years as you know. And way back in '96, I said that Hillary would be the great scourge of our time (damned woman won't let me get laid), the whole terrorism threat and their efforts to get weapons of mass destruction is nothing.

So, it would've been my judgment that, if I'd been sitting there and they said, "Okay, they did it and we finally can certify it," I think I would've fondled another intern, just to avoid the whole mess."

Most media in this country is biased, that's why I make my own news. It's funnier that way.

For the record, I am not currently registered to vote; however, if somehow Big Willy ever got to run for President again I would vote for him in a heartbeat.

Then explain the existentialistic K-A-R-M-A that comes along with it! You think the gopher got there on accident?

You incredulous affront to humanity, that's what the MEDIA wants you to think. Brainwashed and brouhaha'd my friend on the very level which you perceive your peers to be with your golden tablets and your silly little pen-knives.

Honestly, I thought Clinton looked like a guy who'd lost his cool. Big time. He basically exploded over nothing before Chris Wallace even asked him the first question.

I do love how he redirected the broad question about actions against bin Laden into just the USS Cole and Richard Clarke. That's great Bill. But what about the first WTC boming which you treated as a criminal matter, and the Embassy bombings in Africa that you just kinda ignored? The USS Cole was the last of several events that could have promted action by Clinton. Excusing a lack of action because in that one particular case, he didn't get confirmation of Bin Laden's involvement before leaving office just avoids the issue.

I'm still convinced that Clinton mostly used foreign policy as a PR manipulation technique, with little thought to the long term consequences. He was "obsessed with Bin Laden" on paper, but never seemed to actually do anything about it. Except bring up his name and launch an airstrike whenever he needed a distraction from his domestic problems.

I just find it amusing that Bush has been being based for 5 years straight about "failing to prevent 9/11", but now that we're *finally* getting a tiny bit of broadcast media to maybe imply that Clinton just might be responsible for some part of it, he's getting super defensive...

Well boo hoo Clinton. Deal with it.

Actually, as I read it in the transcript, and as it was admitted by Wallace himself, he asked him two questions related to Clinton's global initiative before he asked him about Al queda. Both of which were answered fully and with good humor.

The reason he exploded was that because he was told the interview would be 15 minutes, and half of that time would be about his global initiative and the other half about anything he wanted to ask. Wallace asked him two fairly brief questions on the initiative and then jumped to Al Queda and what he didn't do right. Wallace claimed he was going to go back to that, and maybe he would have.

Also, I think that Clinton's outburst seemed a bit planned. I think he knew what was going to be asked and just waited for it so he could go off.

to -/= two

Wallace's format was intended to move back and forth between the two topics giving both equal time. Interestingly enough, if you watch the video (or read the transcript) Wallace repeatedly asks Clinton if he can ask a question about CGI and Clinton keeps railing on about Bin Laden and how unfair it is for anyone to suggest that he might be remotely responsible for the failures that led to 9/11, much less (apparently) even ask him questions about it.

Heh. You think? Of course he knew he was going to be asked about it. What's startling to me is that I think he expected a big hit job, prepared for a big hit job, but got a pretty tame question instead and didn't seem to notice and responded as though he'd been ambushed or something. You could see the look of confusion on Chris Wallace's face when Clinton practically exploded at him. Everyone knew the subject of the 15 minuts of "free questions" he'd be asked. But Clinton jumped at the guy for asking them anyway.

Dunno. Just struck me as a huge over-reaction. He'd have done much better to simply answer the question without all the histrionics.

If it's any consolation, I was in negotiation meetings this week where one of the parties (who may or may not have been called 'Chelsea') failed through repeated us of the phrase "Do you know who I am?"

My response was "Yes, but what are you?"

She left empty-handed, surrounded by security men.

Wait..

Let me get this straight.

This topic has little to do with how Bush is a super evil genius idiot devil dinosaur who has magical Katrina wielding abilities that destroys third world nations, owns and operates a multi million infinitely supplied oil rig and cocaine business, and his constant obsession with the word "yall" and riding horses?

I’m so out of here.
