BAGHDAD, Iraq -- Shiite militias are encouraging children -- some as young as 6 or 7 -- to hurl stones and gasoline bombs at U.S. convoys, hoping to lure American troops into ambushes or provoke them into shooting back, U.S. soldiers say.

Gangs of up to 100 children assemble in Sadr City, stronghold of radical anti-American cleric Muqtada al-Sadr and his Mahdi Army militia, and in nearby neighborhoods, U.S. officers said in interviews this week.

American soldiers have seen young men, their faces covered by bandanas, talking with the children before the rock-throwing attacks begin -- and sometimes handing out slingshots so the volleys will be more accurate, the troops said.

"It's like a militia operation. They'll mass rocks on the last or second-to-last vehicle" in a U.S. patrol, said Capt. Chris L'Heureux, 30, of Woonsocket, R.I. "There's no doubt in my mind that they're utilizing these kids in a deliberate, thought-out way."
Story

Apparently, Israel's "systematic brainwashing of hatred" was under-utilizing an important battlefield resource. For shame!

Almost as tasteless as reports of fanatical Iranian parents during the Iran-Iraq war who sent their children into minefields to clear the way for troops. Tiny Martyrs FTW!

Some accounts describe toddlers being wrapped in carpet before being sent to roly-poly into the minefields. The carpet increased the chances of finding some remains to bury.

Aww how sweet!

Hmmm was just pondering the problem. I suggest getting the the troops some piant ball guns with pink paintballs, the non water based kind. The muzzie kids will not take kindly to being dressed up in girlie pink.

Just a super soaker with diluted pink paint might be even better, then you don't even have a chance of bruising the kids slightly, but then you have less range.

Hey, I remember that from my young school days. Little plastic keys around their necks to get them into Heaven, eh?

Yikes, I had never heard about the children mine sweepers, I found this link about it. How terrible.

Edit: Strange, the link from google takes you to the whole article but this link here only shows the first paragraph.

I say this with no attempt to troll, inflame, or spout tongue-in-cheek bigotry: Middle Eastern Arabs, by-and-large, have very little regard for human life other than for their immediate parents and first born sons. What is so surprising is that each of you seem shocked by these revelations. Did you think that honor killings, suicide attacks, public stonings and limb removal, genital mutilation, slavery, and yes, mine field clearing by toddler were aberations or limited to a small segment of that population?

Even the riot and gunfire at Arafat's funeral procession-- for a man who was a moderate (terrorist) by Middle Eastern definition --is the norm.

The new Hamas Palestinian Ambassador to the UN had just finished giving a speech, and he walked out into the lobby where he met President Bush. They shook hands, and as they walked the Ambassador said, "You know, I have just one question about what I have seen in America."

President Bush said, "Well, anything I can do to help you, I will." The Pally whispered, "My son watches this show 'Star Trek' and in it there is Chekhov who is Russian, Scotty who is Scottish, and Sulu who is Chinese, but there are no Arabs. My son is very upset and doesn't understand why there aren't any of my people on Star Trek."

President Bush laughed, leaned toward the Palestinian ambassador, and whispered back, "That's because it takes place in the future!"

If we're swapping crap jokes. . .

How many US Marines does it take to throw an Iraqi woman down the stairs?

None. She fell.
