WASHINGTON -- An armed man crashed his vehicle into a security barricade at the U.S. Capitol on Monday, ran into the building and was arrested, forcing the complex to briefly be locked down, authorities said.

The man was armed with a gun, said one security officer speaking anonymously pending an official briefing. The officer said the man was captured by police after running through the Rotunda in the center of the Capitol and down a stairway into the basement.

I bet it would have if that SUV or his shorts were loaded with explosives..

I saw preliminary news stories about it on CNN and the Tribune's site. Missed the bit about the gun though.

yeah, I guess it shouldn't be a point of concern that an armed man can make it passed Homeland Security agents and barricades and make his way down the hallways of our Capitol building.

you probably wouldn't care if they started selling explosive C-4 belts at gas stations would you?

I heard on the news last night that the capitol "police" force is bigger than the entire city of Boston's and this dude still got in. Can that be true?? AT any rate someone's getting fired today!

Yay!
