I love a good Silent Auction.

Today I found a autograph copy of an Oral Biography I been wanting for months now at a Silent Auction and got into a bidding war with one other person. As I hover over the table waiting for the Auction to end, the other bidder came up and kept trying to out bid me.

With 30 seconds to go she must have figure upping the bid to $30 would get her the book. Ha! As someone counted down the last 15 seconds, I grab a pen and place the last bid of $35. I dropped the pen as the count down ended.

My first bid was a bargain of only $18, and though the book is listed at only $24.95, having my daughters former Principle and the Author Sign the book made the book worth far more to me. The writer would take the time each year, to order books for RIF, especially just to suit their taste in reading.

As for Miss Williams, in my personal opinion, there was no better principle in the city of Baltimore while they were in school. If she saw a way to make education of her students improve, she fought like mad for it. The book mentions the white parents, who went to bat for all the children in the community and I'm proud to be one of those parents.

edit to add Daugther called to say she wants to read the book... seems she is one of the Anonymous Guests (13) on right now

Well... she does have the best rack of the three. Best I could do though is maybe get her into her bodice or corset and ask her to show them off Smiley: grin

I'm going to see if I can get her old account back up. and then make her post. I'm sure threatening to tell a few of her more embarrassing story from her childhood should do it.

There's nothing more satisfying than snatching victory out of the hands of an enemy bidder like a last second snipe =)

Nice one Elne!

I can think of one thing more satisfying than snatching victory from an enemy bidder. More accurately, two things, peeking at me over the top of a bodice or corset, inviting me to play them like bongos. Make with the pics, Elne.

BT, living up to the reputation.

Nursing as in lactating or nursing as in wears a uniform? Who am I kidding? I'll take either, or both, yes, both would be preferable.

Hmmm... guess I have to see if I can get all three to post pics of the bewbies. Only reason oldest is larger then the one I was thinking off, is for fact granddaughter still loves her Bewbies more then cows milk.

I think a family photo of the four of us, in Ren garb is in order.

I'm confused. How do you use a pen while bidding on eBay?

Update on the Auction.

Jonwin got a call yesterday saying he also won the item he bid on.

Bike helmet, tail light, very cool sun glasses in dark gray and one hour consult with a Bike Commuting Consultant.

All for less then what the retail price of the helmet and sun glasses together, would have cost from what I've found online.

WTF is a Bike Commuting Consultant?

Been so long since I got on a bike that I'm jealous

That will have to wait until after I'm sure my children can't find out where I moved. Which hopefully will happen before they read todays posts.

Jonwin is too busy playing with new eq1 interface to pay attention, so I have a few days before I need worry about him reading them.
