I can't remember, has she gone through rehab yet?

Whitney has the potential to be our generation's Tina Turner. If only she bounces back with such style.

Okay, how many times will they reconcile before she finally goes through with it?

I feel bad for the daughter. Which parent would you rather be raised by? Crackhead Whitney or Pothead Bobby?

Nah. She doesn't have the legs for it.

Sorry to disappoint cha, old pal. Apparently, Bobby is still her man.

So what is a legal separation, anyway? Is it a pre-req for divorce, or is it its own thing? And either way, what does it entail? Severance of property? Custody? Income?

Dunno the details of US law on the subject, but over here it's usually a means of paving the way for a smooth no-blame divorce. Saves later legal disputes over how long the couple have been separated.

Just to complicate things, divorce laws vary from state to state. I have no idea what they're like in GA, for which I give thanks to the FSM daily.

If they're anything like VA, you have to be legally separated for a year before you can file. This might just be her way of cutting Bobby off without having to pay him spousal support.

You were free to idolize her at any time, really. Her marital status is obviously irrelevant.

A legal separation is essentially a divorce for people who don't believe in divorce. It varies from place to place but for the most part with a legal separation you get all of the same things you would get in a standard dissolution of marriage like court orders for child support, alimony, and assignment of assests while still retaining a married status.

Edit: I would think that legal separation would have different levels of importance based on how fault is weighed in the state in question.

/nod In California, there is no required statutory time for a legal separation prior to initiating any divorce proceedings. You can get married on day and file for divorce the next day in California (and my office has handled a few of those kind).

There are some that do the legal separation because they REFUSE to go along with a divorce, if only to keep that "******* or *****" for marrying someone else (another lovely thing many of clients like to do).

Edit: And California is a no-fault divorce state. You can simply get divorced because you don't feel like being married anymore. If your spouse abused you in some way, you have to try for damages in a civil lawsuit.

I'm thinking this may be the case here, especially if she found out Bobby was using her money to keep a 'ho.

She gonna get everything I own
if I let ya go
