So how goes the battle Red?

If its any help my lovely cousin, as nice and giving a woman as you could ever want to meet was just diagnosed with stage IV cancer of the lungs, lymph nodes and brain. She's been a lifelong smoker.

Myself, My Mother, My Dad, My Aunt, Grandpa, 3 uncles, 2 cousins ALL smokers from as long as only 3-4 years (me) to 40+ years (1 aunt 1 uncle were over 50 years old.) Were all very close, than my 1 uncle disappeared on us(wife to), To make long story short, he was at my Grandpa's who was hiding from the family he was about to die from Massive Lung Failure. Less than 5 years later, that same uncle got lung cancer and hid it from our family, than also got pscorrosis of the Liver from massive drinking cause of cancer depression, we lost him aswell. He was 5,11 265 lbs, his wieght at death, was 105 lbs.
Since than not a one of us smoke, and never will again. All 10 of us quit cold turkey after leaving the hospital. Quit while you still have a chance
From what ive learned the physical nicotine cravings should leave in 3days to a week, the rest is all menal.
Smoking not only hurts yourself, but your family aswell, I suggest turning to them for help.
Just my 2 cents, do what you want, its your life, but im sure anyone who cares about you (family, friends) would agree that your choice on quitting is a noble one.

Quit for nine months with the patch, then something dramatic happened and over two months I was back to a pack a day. Working on my second try now. Good luck man, forget your pocket book your body will thank you!

If you actaully manage to quit smoking (good luck by the way), can you still be considered French?

By you baked-beans-eating, marmite-drinking, closet-Frenchies, yes. I still eat baguettes and wear a stripy black and white shirt with onion rings around my neck as I ride my bycicle to the boulangerie buy some more baguette.

Otherwise, no. French people are arrogant bastards who think they are superior to everyone else.

And I'm so much better than that.

edit: still havent had a ciggy \o/

I've quit several times...go me.

Right now I'm holding steady at about a pack every two and a half days.

I roll my own, which reduces the amount I smoke greatly. I go through a a pack a week maybe, with thirty-six papers in a pack for between one and two dollars, depending on where I buy. Plus it makes me feel like a cowboy and I meet stoners all the time, why would I ever quit?

If you were my girl I'd let you put ointment on my saddle sores.

Every time I've tried to quit cold turkey, I end up smoking more than I was before. I'm cutting back now. It's the way I quit before, and hopefully it will work this time.

Hopefully.

I only start smoking when lit on fire. Otherwise I'm smoke free.
