Grats. I quit smoking over 4½ years ago myself. I know its hard and I know this because it took me 3 times trying to quit to actually do it. Stick with it though, your pocket book will thank you.

I'm channeling you some will power now.

Best of luck!

I tried to quit many many times unsuccessfully. Tried hypnotism, piece of cake to quit. Not even the slightest pang.

Did it just take one session or was it a month long process?

Thanks. I'm going slightly insane. I feel like screaming at little kids in the street, and using a flamethrower on the tube.

Guess I'm addicted then.

I must admit I'm tempted by hypnotism. I don't know how long I'm gonna last like this with only will power. And I don't want patches/gums.

Thank **** I'm not addicted to heroin. That would suck.

A single 2 hour session. I had to keep a diary of my smoking for a week and fill in some psychological questionnaire too.

Yes, though I can see a few practical complications in the process.

I hear acupuncture works. Maybe if you stab yourself in the throat with a large, dull pen it will help.

I quit cold turkey. Went through about 3-4 days of pure hell and then several weeks of mild annoyance at the world. Anytime I thought about cheating during those weeks, I reminded myself that I'd just have to go through those hell days a second time around.

And I obsessively used a lot of lip balm. As some people chew gum or eat carrot sticks or suck on hard candy, my oral substitute was Carmex. I had lips you could box up and sell at fine retailers.

Thats what I'm trying to do. Eating chewing-gum. Screaming at people. Stabbing pens in my throat.

But man, if I go through today without smoking I'll erect a statue in my honour I think.

I've been thinking about hypnotism too. I was able to quit cold turkey a year ago but that only lasted 4months before I picked up the habit again. I hear alot of good things about hypnotism.

Maybe This pic(warning for the feint of heart) and This pic will help.

Took me two tries. Successfully quit about 6 months before I got married (just over 8 years ago). I used the patch and the pill (zyban, I think). Worked wonders.

RP-congrats on the effort and good luck but, if I may ask, why now?
