Was friggin exhausting. I really hope they don't make a habit out of having a double-header on Monday nights. I had to rush home from work in order to get there before kickoff for the first game. And even though I was completely disgusted with my team and shut off the TV with 10 minutes left in the 4th quarter, it was still 11pm by the time I crawled into bed. Way past my bed-time.

The Raiders looked like a high school team. The protection (haha what protection?) for Brooks was hilarity. I don't think I've ever seen an offensive line that in-effective in the 25 years I've been watching football. The only positives I can say about them was that the defense finally stepped it up in the second half and stopped multiple drives, holding Tomlinson in check for the most part. At least in relation to the first half. Also, Lechler looked great. But when your punter is the bright spot in a game, you know you've got problems.

I knew it was going to be a re-building year before pre-season started, but wowza. At least we got Baltimore to look forward to next weekend...

Oh wait, they just finished stomping the hell outta Tampa Bay.

It's going to be a long season.

Man, if you are a fan of Da Raida's, then you should be used to this by now. I have seen high school football teams that are better. I am fairly certain that USC could suit up and whooop this shit out of your poorly ran team next week. Your only hope of this team ever being viable again is to put a bullet in that old ******* that is running this franchise into the ground.

Shouldn't be too hard, unless he has a bulletproof sweatsuit. Course, it is Oakland, so you never know.

I agree, the double-header on a Monday night is bullShit. I had to take off early to catch the first game, but was glad I did. The Vikings look downright workman like and efficient, which outside of a stripclub has not been the case for some years. Childress even went so far as to actually suspend free agent pick up Dwight Smith for diddling some chick in a stairway, starting a rookie in his place at safety. The last couple of years, Tice would have just patted Dwight on the *** and proclaimed: "Atta Boy!"

I am predicting 11-5, and winning the NFC North outright. FUck the Bears.

Did you see Tom Cruise in the owner's box with Dan Snyder trying to look like he didn't want to get down there with those hulking, sweaty men and take a pounding? Catch my drift? Katie Holmes next to him, sipping Jesus Juice from her Redskins mug with those big doe eyes? Yeah, so did I and he's gay gay gay.

What did you expect? You picked up Aaron Brooks as your QB. He needs atleast 10sec in the pocket to be any good. Never had it in NO, won't have it in Oakland and won't get it anywhere's else either. He's an "on paper" QB, not an "in gamne" QB.

I think the Bears have a good shot this year. If their offense is for real, and can keep that defense of the field, imagine how dominant they'll be with a defense that plays fresh all game. This team is built like the Ravens were when they won. A defense that can control a game, and an offense that only needs to stay out there long enough to let the defense rest.

On a side note, Culpepper looks like he'll lead my Dolphins the same way he did with the Vikings, straight out fo the cellar and into mediocrity. Anjd they'll never go any farther than that. Lots of talent, but no head for the game.

Actually, speaking about Monday Night Football, my daughter's team went on to win 2-1 and now plays for top place this Saturday!

Of course we are talking about the REAL football, not this American stuff.

I played in my midnight futbol league last night, as well. We won 14-10, which is more of a football score, I know, but alot more fun to watch than a bunch of little girls akwardly bumping into one another while chasing...on second thought.

Not bloody likely! Did you see dah Bears beat up on the Pack? The defense looked spectacular, and they were starting a couple of injured players, and even a few rookies. Plus, they shut out Favre. 'Nuff said.

The offense even looked good. That 49yd TD pass on the first drive gave me all kinds of joy in the testicular region, and they were consistently getting to the red zone all game, regardless of all the field goals that resulted. Grossman has his confidence up, he's finding his recievers, and the defense is as dominant as ever.

It's my (and the rest of Chicago's) opinion that the Bears have a trip to the Big Dance in store for them.

It was the Packers. I reserve judgement until they play a real team and you can't honestly believe Grossman can keep that level of play up? Then you've got Griese, and as a native of Colorado who got to see him fUck things up for a few seasons, well, yeah. I just don't buy them.

You say that like the Packers are an actual team. They are running neck and neck with the Raiders to see who is going to win the Brady Quinn bowl this year.

Also, what is with all this talk of NFC (Especially NFC North teams) going to the Superbowl? It won't matter a bit, once they run into the buzzsaw that will be the AFC team (Namely, my Colts).

That game was fun to watch, and it was close right down to the end, unlike the second game. I'll give Childress his props for that disciplinary action. More coaches should do things like that. I'd be suprised if the Vikings take the North though, I'll take a few more wins to sell me on that.

No arguement here. When I heard that the Raiders picked him up in the off-season, I said "Who is he? What position does he play?"

The Raiders have been taking people's hand-me-down quarterbacks for far too long. It's about time they groom one of their own. It looks like they may be doing it with Walters. He needs some more grooming yet, but he shows promise. Unfortunately he may get thrown into the meat grinder a bit too soon if Brooks keeps it up.

Still, any quarterback needs protection. That line needs to step it up, seriously.

Yes, but come on, it's the Packers. That's a team that is no where near what it once was. I'd wait a few more games for them as well before you get carried away.

Not to say I'm doubting them. They will probably do better than last year if Grossman can perform. He did look pretty good this weekend, but I'm not sold on the Bears actually having an offense yet either. If they can perform against some better teams, I may be willing to jump on that bandwagon.

Dan Marino couldn't win without a RB or defense, so what makes you think Peyton will? He isn't half the QB Dan was. The Colt's will be ready for a Superbowl, when Peyton eats some humility and renegotiates a lower salary so they can afford some quality players on D.

I still say the Raiders should have kept Jeff George on the roster for the regular season. Just for the laugh factor.

I laughed when the Raiders turned once again to that washed-up old man Art Shell. God they suck.

Anyway, the STEELERS will pwn once again this year. Just like the Gump Breeders already are. That is all.

Oh, you guys will end up with either the 1 or 2 pick next year in the draft. I have no doubts about that. But you will still probably lose out on Quinn, since Davis will proudly declare "He's not a Raida". Which basically means he isn't old, undertalented and overpaid.

He has done that once already, and we ended up with some quality players on D. Quality enough that we are going to have a hard time keeping them when they come up for their next contracts. It makes me sad to say it, but the day Freeney's contract is up, we will have no chance of resigning him. And as far as who is the better QB? Talk to me in 10 years once Manning has finished his career.

I wasn't a big fan of Art Shell the first time, and was releived when they got rid of him. However, I believe in second chances (especially when you consider the alternatives, any other coach the Raiders picked up would have been an abysmal failure, you only get a Gruden once in a blue moon). If Shell can instill discipline into the team, and get them to stop shooting themselves in the foot, that will be a step in the right direction.

And I think the Seahawks might pull it off this year, if they can step up their defense and the key players stay healthy. The Steelers aren't going to be as hungry this year as they were last year. And neither will Cower.

I just hope Gruden can turn this season around fast for the Bucs. If not, I am going to need to get a new TV soon from all the times the remote is going to be pelting it.

I would like the record to reflect that after week one of the fantasy football, I have the highest scoring team in the league. I did this with the last pick in the draft. Therefore, my opinion really does carry more weight than the rest of yours, and you can eat my Shit.

What would be the point? Peyton's first few years were with a really good RB, which Dan never had. You can't really compare the two as Peyton always had the double threat of run vs pass. Dan never, teams just defended the pass and he still put up great numbers. Unless Peyton can blow Dan's numbers out of the water, that'll always be an agruement in favour of Marino.

Just like Marino vs Montana. Montana had a great team, but for some reason, people always thought that made him a better QB than Marino. As well, Duper and Clayton were not equivalent to Harrison, Wayne and Stokley. Peyton has so many weapaons to choose from. Now, if you want to compare Manning vs Montana, I'll side with you any day.

Comparing the quarterbacks of today with the quarterbacks of yesteryear is like comparing ***** sizes. Unless you're getting some pUssy, the differences don't really matter.

Marino was a great quarterback, but he never won a Superbowl. Manning is also a great quarterback, but he still hasn't won a Superbowl. If Manning wins one, you could still try to compare them but it's moot. He'll have a ring on his finger.

And I doubt very much that the Colts will win one without a decent running game, and they got rid of their decent running game when James left.

ill co sign this.

this is really true. we never had any sort of a running game when dan was here, only a lil glimpse way back in 91 but that ended when our rb turns into "i cant hold on to the ball in the redzone if my life depended on it sammy smith", basically all teams played the pass D on us & he still ripped through them like a hot knife through butter.

This season is where we truely see how close to dan marino pey really is, that is unless D.Rhodes turns into a beast rushing which i doubt.

Maybe. But their first game was anything but impressive. With Hutchison gone from the OL, I think the running game is going to suffer, as will the protection for Hasselbeck.
