Time for another music thread. Meet Joph's and my newest obsession: Regina Spektor.

She's like the Russian Julieta Venegas. I heart her!

Better versions of her videos are at her actual website under Videos (go figure).

I remember the YouTube versions being rather choppy.

Really dude?

You like the music right?

She looks like a cracked-out version of that chick from Mythbusters.

Trust me, if I wanted to post ************ material, I would have linked the Paris Hilton video, or something by Jessica Simpson.

The best thing about that clip is since it's one minute and thirty-nine seconds long, I can pause it when I'm finished and come back later for another go 'round!

"Fidelity" makes me want to put my elbow through her teeth.
"On the Radio" is really nice, except her blatant exploitation of the blackies.

Looks like Chelsea and sounds like that one ***** that I can't remember her name. Some daughter of some musician that you should know who he was but can't put your finger on it. You know.

Because a detail explanation of her annoying vibrato and lame still frame video tricks would have landed me the respect and admiration of all of my fans.

You wanna send me a check for it? I'll be gald to waste my company's time writing a more detailed account.

Weird, I just went to amazon.co.jp to import the new Arrested Development album. When I put it in my shopping cart, the site suggested that I would also enjoy Regina Spektor - Begin To Hope.

Fidelity is easily the popiest of the tracks although I have to admit to liking it regardless. Plus, Flea would call me out if I tried to lie about it.

Ms. Spektor does have a curious fascination with c.1960's technology stop-frame animation. It works on "Us" and "Samson" but seems tacked in on "On the Radio". I amuse myself by thinking that, as a Russian immigrant, she probably thinks Gumby is cutting-edge technology Smiley: grin

I picked up her two readily available studio albums and she plays quite a range of styles. Which means there's probably something for everyone but it's hard to say "Listen to this track 'cause that's what she's like." Anyway, I liked her enough to pick up tickets to see her live come October.

You make a good point.

Should Flea and I get into an accident this Friday en route to this month's concert, we're taking the bus come October.

Out of curiousity, which concert is Friday?

I envy people that live where there are a lot of shows all year. I normally have to drive 8+ hours to see anything I care to see. Something good does occassionally come to Little Rock, but it is once or twice a year, max.

When I was in Chicago this summer I was amazed at how many shows I could have gone to see on a whim.
