Tim Burton to make Sondheim's "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street"

This was actually the first musical I ever saw in the theatre (aside from a high school production of "L'il Abner.") I was in the 7th grade at the time, and it gave me a very...warped...preference for the kind of musicals I enjoy.

It could either be really good or really awful. If Depp can pull of the low, low baritone for the part, and if Tim Burton can avoid going over the top (because let's face it, this show is already over-the-top enough) it could be very, very cool.

And what if none of their souls were saved?
They went to their maker impecably shaved...

Are Tim Burton and Johnny Depp in love or something?

If you could just keep making movies with Johnny Depp, you wouldn't?

"Yes Johnny, and now I'd like you to dress up as _____ and sing to me!"

I hate Tim Burton. ok, not really.

I have very little optimism that this film will be anything more than a monumental failure. I don't really buy into Tim Burton at all. His only film I actually thought was highly original was Edwards Scissorhands Smiley: laugh

Although the movies themselves are usually not too awful, watching a Tim Burton flick just makes my eyes bleed and my brain hurt. Visually they're appalling.

The combo sold well before, making the chance of gaining large profit worth taking. If this movie fails like the last one, he may become nothing more then a Dizney clone. Doing the same thing over and over. But at least his work isn't incredible disturbing, falic, and wronge.

When I first read the title of the thread, my high school computer teacher flashed through my head. His name's flipped though. I've since decided that 5pm is way to early to be up on Labor Day for a college student.
