Please don't hijack the thread that Moe and I have already hijacked.

We can get back to attacking each other just as soon as Moe explains why he'd be taking the **** and why he thinks I should know he practises that?

I think you are all ignoring the most important issue of all in the legalized prostituion debate. Will it cost more or less if it is legalized?

I'm also on the 'legalise & regulate' side of the fence.

Leaving aside morality (mine is my bidness, yours is yours), my main reasons are:
  • Welfare of the durty-gurls themselves (often coerced, victims of violence and living in squalor while pimps rake in the cash)
  • Sexual Health (regulation, use of condoms, access to health checks and health edjamakayshun)
  • Damaging the links with organised crime.

Oh, and it gets Moe and Nizdaar pole-dancing for us all.

Leave it to a f'ucking Englishman to grossly oversimplify the issue under the guise of pomp and import.

Even if it were legalized, it would not completely eliminate the illegal prostitution. You would still have prostitutes that could not be licensed, due to disease, etc., continuing the "trade." Until the stigma of using a prostitute goes away, you will still have those willing to risk an "unlicensed" hooker because they don't want to be seen going into the brothel or can't afford the higher priced girls who would come to you.

Nevada has legalized prostitution, but they still have trouble with street walkers.

There are some men who enjoy the "living on the edge" feeling they get from paying for it. I wonder if legalizing it would still keep it risque enough for them?

this could hurt my bidness!

Mostly because its not technically legal in Las Vegas proper.

Some sex acts will never be legal, regardless of whether or not a monetary transaction takes place.

Well, even if it's legal they'd still be paying for it. Maybe they could get their weiners wetted in mid-air while skydiving or something if the john needed more of a thrill.

True. But bestiality is a whole other subject.

Why is it that women generally bring up the idea that prostitution just lowers their standing? Most guys would probably feel like they were in a pretty nice situation if they had something of a generous female suitor.

Speaking of Vegas though. If legalization means that those obnoxious card-clicker/snap/whatever people will be standing on the streets of every town, that's grounds enough to oppose legalization all by itself...
