What is the big deal anyway? It's just another trade skill really. You've got plumbers and electricians and mechanics offering their services for money. Why not prostitutes?

Sure, there's still some lingering puritanical poo-pooing of the idea. But we've come a long way as far as sex and sexuality, right? Pre-marital sex is practically the norm now, teh buttsecks is no longer grounds for imprisonment, and Lance Bass's coming-out party is a shocker to no one and it lands him the cover of People magazine.

Hell, we already have strip clubs where womenz get nekkid for our viewing pleasure. Pay a few more bucks and you get a personal lap dance in the back, all perfectly legal. So why not go the final step and allow a dude to pay a few bucks and get a hummer in the Coital Room in the upstairs room?

Put the thing under gubberment regulation. Take the dirty pimps out of the picture, make some sort of minimal health requirments, and stop putting those poor ugly Johns on the front page of the local newspaper! That way, the women get to use desperate men for their money, desperate men get to introduce their stiffy to something other than their hand, and a lot of the peripheral crime may just drop to boot.

So what say you?

and no, i've never solicited a ho.... GFY

If it could be regulated, I don't see a problem, other than potential to spread disease at an alarming rate.

But why would the spread of disease be any greater if it's legal and regulated? It would probably control the rate if anything.

Well by regulated I was thinking more along the lines of health controls rather than full government sponsorship.

Of course it should.

It should be legal and heavily regulated (regular health checks, forced to wear condoms, etc...) Just like it is in the Netherlands.

I don't think it would increase the number of prostitutes, or of sexually transmitted disease. It would certainly decrease the hardship that prostitutes face, and the money that criminal gangs make from them. It would also hurt the people trafficking industry, which can only be a good thing.

The real question is not whether it should be legal, but how to best regulate it.

But, as usual, it won't happen cos we'd rather pretend it doesn't exist, ot that we can fight it off with the "war on prostitution".

So the only issues that you may have with it are the health implications?

as opposed to the moral and social ones?

so one day, wehn your daughter come to you and tells you that she touched herself and enjoyed it and has made it her dream to become the wolrds greatest *****, she would have your blessings?

I don't think it would work. Think about if females had the sexual promiscuity and drive and social non-stigma that is curretly attributed to males.

It would truly be a sick sticky world.... nothing would get done! Everyone would just be fuucking in the streets instead of being productive.....

Global orgy.

It already is legal in some limited places in the US(i.e. check out the bunnyranch.com if you don't believe me).

There are no moral issues that should come in to play. Morality is something for your personal life and your own interactions. Of course it should be legal. We license people to cut hair, for f'uck's sake. Why would we not be able to come up with license criteria for hookers?

No she wouldn't have my blessing, but she probably also wouldn't have my blessing if she decided to become the world's greates bagger at a grocery store, or the top chef at McDonald's, or a stripper with the biggest boobs, or a personal assitant of Michael Moore.

Two separate issues.

What does one have to do with the other?

I don't imagine I'd ever avail myself the services of a prostitute but that doesn't mean it has to be illegal. I don't think it'd suddenly become more socially acceptable than strippers are now.

I don't see how thinking it should be legal and using the service are mutually inclusive.

I'm still on the fence about marijuana being legalized up here in Canada. Regardless if it is nor not, I'll never partake.

The fact is, there is a demand out there for the service. People who want to have the service will seek it out however they can. Right now, it's not the safest industry, for both sides. If it was legalized and regulated wouldn't that be a better thing?

The sex trade would certainly take a pretty major hit.

no, not suddenly.
I don't think that we are fully capable however, of fully realizing the social repercussions that would happen in a few decades being that we are trapped in the view of our comtemporary society.

I'm thinking Sadam and Gommora.

or

I'm just getting old... prolly that..

AFAIK, the only sex trade right now is illicit. If anything, it should have read current sex trade.

You think God is going to send an angel with a fiery sword (+7 dmg) to smite bad spellers?

I don't see what that has to do with losers getting their knobs waxed by other losers, but I'm sure you'll explain it to me.

So no thought in typing, no attention in reading...

You don't have anything to do with server configuration around here, do you?

Nevada currently has legalized sex trade. You could possibly be excused if your retort is that you've never been there to partake, so you wouldn't "know", but that would be a poor rhetorical argument and therefore excluded from consideration.

If anything, it should have read illicit, just as I said. If you're confused, simply read my signature and all will be made clear.
