I've mentioned this before I ever met Flea, however feel free to make whatever declarations you wish. But, when I was about 10 or 11, my mother had her tubes tied and had all sorts of complications from it with a lengthy and painful recovery. I've always known that I'd rather undergo a minor outpatient procedure rather than demand that my spouse undergo a significantly more invasive surgery.

I plan to have a full hysterectomy eventually. There is too much history in my family of cancer and other issues for me to even want to take the chance with it.
I recently read about a vasectomy alternative where, instead of clipping, they fill the appropriate passages with some sort of foam. There is a way for the doctor to reverse it by applying something that will dissolve the foam and then the man is back to his original state. I'm too lazy to find a link to it but it sounded interesting.

There's actually a better alternative to tubal ligation these days. Basically, they dilate the cervix and, using a camera, place silicone plugs in the Fallopian tubes via the uterus. Much less traumatic and shorter recovery time than tubal ligation. Also reversible.

I am assuming the advantage is the reversibility, not the procedure itself.

Probably. Though I haven't heard of it until now, so I can't say if it's practical in reality. I'm still trying to figure out the physics of the whole thing in my head, and it's not sounding a whole lot better.
