Russian RouletteFollow

Last nite, while talking to the Mr.Katie, he was telling me that he has a Moogle FUcker(tm) in his shop. Apparently, the guy was talking about how in game they play Russian Roulette with /random and who ever has the lowest number has to drink poison (in game) and die. Is this an actuall feature in the game?

Yeah, typing /random generates a random number between 1 and 999 or so.

Never heard of people using it for Russian Roulette when I played, though.

Why? I can't wrap my head around the fact that any game would have a suicide factor to it. Death by your own hand and all is kind of creepy.

/random is used for lots on dropped items, picking leader or player orders

Poison potions, will kill you, if used enough.

They've got these things called poison potions, which add poison effect to your character. They're typically used to make other items, or to use the constant damage from the poison to keep your character from being slept by enemies.

Of course, people use it to kill their characters for kicks. In FFXI you can do that without losing exp if you're on a low level job.

You can buy poison or venom potions which, well, poison you (venom potions are worse, obviously).

The point of the former is for when you're fighting some big-ugly that you know casts sleep a lot: because you wake up from sleep when you take damage, and poison, well, damages you, but only like 1HP/3SEC or so.

Why someone would use a Venom potion, I'm not too sure on it. Though I do admit the looks you get when you're laying dead in the middle of a crowded town must be funny.

It speaks volumes about the game when people have to randomly kill their characters in order to get any enjoyment out of it.

We use potions in DAoC to kill enemy players, you can't use them on yourself.

I think I just realized the point of this thread. It was to attract all the Smiley: mooglefUckers for some reason.....

It's a trap! Run away!...but must finish poking the Smiley: moogle.....

Jumping off the large spires in EQ and trying to cast an invulnerability spell before hitting the ground was a lot of fun...

A player in my old linkshell once created an alt named "Jeesus", and and walked around the games major town, handing out bread and wine items to random people.

Then he drank a poison potion, died, and had another character cast raise on him.

This is the kind of thing people think up while waiting for group invites, I suppose.

Lol, actually it wasnt to draw in the heathens from that "other" forum. It was to get conversation going while I watched the Bhodi vs Elde love spat in my other topic.

Likewise for jumping off the giant Dreadland spires and having a mage cast Call of the Hero to bungee you back up Smiley: laugh

I used to throw my bard down the Plane of Knowledge library elevator shaft and try to get a levitation song off before impact. Embarassment is having to beg for a ressurection in PoK.

Sounds complicated to pull off fairly. You did not say if they actually bet gil or just do it for fun, but I bet the level 75 Galka Monk with all HP plus gear is always the last one standing.

Ah, Everquest, yes there was downtime but some of it was really enjoyable. There were (are) loads of features to explore. And no shortage of downtime to do so in.

you're also talking about a game formed of a culture that has suicide forums and get together to off themselves with friends

That is the reason why I perfer DAoC over EQ. Better graphics, less down time. You want to kill somebody? Run your *** right on out to the frontiers and kick some ***. You want a certain weapon thats on a certain mob? Cool, I bet its up almost CONSTANTLY. None of this downtime. If you dont want to deal with leveling artifact weapons/armor play on a server without Atlantis. It's great.

Suicide forums are still better than FFXI main.

Just sayin'

That's just funny in the most surreal way. How about have Jeesus get to level 33, and cast reraise on himself, then die by being beaten to death by a bunch of beastmen and then raise himself.

I went on a suicide forum, organized a local suicide get together and everything. Bunch of people came over and I suprised them. I was a hug festival instead. I was giving them away for free.

They called me a c'ock but they couldn't have been too upset over it, they didn't kill themselves afterward.
