CNN wrote:
Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez said Tuesday he had forged a strategic alliance to stand up to U.S. imperialism with fellow maverick Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.

"Our countries must keep their hands at the ready on the sword," Chavez, in ex-Soviet Belarus as part of a world tour, said on a visit to a military academy.

"After a day of intensive work, we have created a strategic alliance between our countries," he said, speaking through an interpreter. "It is absolutely vital to protect our homeland, to guard against internal and external threats."

"The jaws of imperialism and hegemonism have both us and Belarus in their grip."

Chavez did not give details about what the alliance would involve.

Katie your avatar is hideous yet I can't look away. And if you're serious Belarus borders Poland and Lithuania on the east side, Ukraine from the south side, and Mother Russia from the north. So basically they have absolutely nothing to do with Venezuela.

Hey, you have to hand it to Lukashenko. It takes a really special person to be the last hardline totalitarian dictatorship in Europe!

I love how Americans are all about democracy, yet when a left leaning government is elected they try to **** all over them.

Like come on how long have you embargoed Cuba for now? Cause they are a real threat! Viva Le Revolution!

Just like Bush did.....hang on.

Does it matter he is incredibly popular amongst the poor of his country, unlike a certain other president.

i do know one thing. it was the wrong decision to go into iraq in the first place and if you Still dont think so you are a f*cktard. :)

Chavez is dead set on protecting his oil, and he thinks the US is out to get him. He's in bed with Iran, as well (or so they say)...there's that growing "Anti-US" thing breeding quickly. Yippee, looks like we've accomplished our goal of pissing off at least 50% of the international community!

As for pulling out of Iraq, yea...that's been obvious for a while now. But we haven't completed the task at hand ... (what is that task again?)

To entrench ourselves in a volatile and potentially lucrative region, asserting our will over the barbaric darkies.

Going back to my real, un-Iraq related, point -- Today's news has word that Chavez struck a deal with the Russians to purchase Russian fighters and armaments.
CNN wrote:
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said Wednesday that his oil-rich nation will sign major arms deals in Moscow to acquire Russian fighter jets and produce Kalashnikov assault rifles, as Russia shrugged off U.S. criticism of the weapons sales.

On a visit to the city of Izhevsk, where Kalashnikovs are made, Chavez said contracts to buy Su-30 jets and set up Kalashnikov rifle and ammunition plants in Venezuela would be signed in Moscow on Thursday, the Interfax news agency reported.

This method is not accepted as a means of not creating many little Iraqs. If we knock that fertile crescent up, we've got to man up and deal with it. I reccomend a huge condom, but I guess we don't dig the UN, it kills the sensation.

That's as on-topic as I'm getting on this one. I'm suffering from Anti-American Sentiment Fatigue. AASFAT

Good thing we're not discussing anti-Syrian sentiment.

Tallyho!

And the deal Chavez struck is huge, ridiculously more than they need for Defense.

CNN.com quote of Chavez wrote:
"We are not going to attack anyone, but nobody should make a mistake with us, especially the U.S. empire that wants to dominate the world with cannons and bombs," he said.

They don't like us very much... Smiley: dubious

BAYAMO, Cuba (Reuters) -- Fidel Castro, Cuba's leader since 1959, joked on Wednesday that he had no plans to be in power when he is 100 years old.

Washington hopes to prevent a succession headed by younger brother Raul Castro, Cuba's defense minister.

Castro said the United States should stop meddling and look after its own social problems, boasting that Cuba's infant mortality of 6.5 per thousand was lower than the U.S. rate.

Meanwhile, Cuba's pokin' fun...although 'ol Fidel has a point (to some degree) with taking care of our own social problems instead of worrying about everyone elses. [:sigh:]...so much meddling, so little time...

Not that shit again. Now there's a country that needs to be broken up (more) into manageable pieces.
