Newt Gringrich made a solid case for the Western civilization having been involved in a world war for a number of years preceding the Iraq war last week on Meet the Press. He claimed that while it has been a low grade conflict, the nature of the war is global. The clash of cultures fuels the anger of the Islamic world, which in turn results in the mess the Middle East continue to endlessly stew in.

Of course, Joe "I'm Plagerizin' Biden predictably claimed it was all Bush's fault. Nothing like an original take from the fellow who thinks up all his own speeches...

I suppose you could make that argument. I wouldn't call it a "solid" one though.

Anne Coulter thinks we should have invaded Afghanistan, killed their leaders and converted them to Christianity, just like Jesus did.

Scary that her books are bestsellers.

Some guy who critiqued her book.

But seriously, WWIII.

That's going to be some crazy ****.

Understatements ftw

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didnt Hizbollah release two of the soldiers? Why is Israel bombing Beirut if Hizbollah is stationed south of it?

Exactly, who is the terrorist?

since when did they release the soldiers? there were only 2 to begin with that hezbulah kidnaped. if hezbuhla released the soldiers it would be all over the news networks.

so yes who exactly is the terrorist... can we say Hezbuhla, can we say Hamas, can we say IJ, etc...

I'd plagiarize Ann Coulter if I thought she had written something on the same topic as my exam essay.

Just find a flimsy reason to attack liberals in your essay. Easy-peasy.

Shit, it's about the Progressive Era so, with that mindset, the essay should write itself!

I totally got a flash of you live-action, with animated quills and parchment writing your essays as you sing and dance with cats and bunnies.

In my vision, you look like a young Gepetto.

it is in Israels best interest to push this as far and hard as possible.

hopefully, it will split the people of lebonon into factions opposed to and in support of hezbola. then give Syeria an opening to step up against the hostilities without showing support for Israel by giving them another faction of lebonon to support instead.

the more they can divide lebonon, the less of a threat Hezbola will be. divide and conqure.

they should push as hard and fast as they possibly can before hezbola has a chance to start backpeddeling and gain sympathy from muslims in the reagon as being the peace seakers oppressed by the Israeli deamons.

its a good move.

its a gutsy move ill say that much. yes military wise it can be a good move, but if Syria or Iran step in, things will get very ugly lvery fast and we will have the grounds for WWIII on our hands with nukes and all. thank you NK, and Iran for that mess, and thank you France for helping out Iran in their actions... bloody french.

sorry off topic there for a bit.

Syria will never show support for Israel, but might be forced to show OPEN support for Hezbullah, and that would be great as it will justify Israel's claims and actions to the rest of the world. If Syria does not show its support for Hezbullah, then there is a chance, all be it a small one, that Hezbullah will be shown as the terrorist they are.

scary no matter how you look at it.

I wouldn't be surprised if certain parties are hoping for Syria and/or Iran to get involved militarily ... it's not like they'd last more than 30 minutes....

(I don't mean the insurgency - maybe I wasn't clear - I mean full on military conflict - tanks and jets)

THE BOOK OF OTHERS
OTHERWISE KNOWN AS THE BOOK OF BASTARDS
{9 Chapters}

CHAPTER 2

For example, there were a lot of nations who thought they would be Chosen,
2 When the time came,
3 But when the time came,
4 They didn't make it.
5 The Phoenicians invented the first salphabet,
6 And sailing ships,
7 And trade,
8 And did a lot of exploring,
9 Long before the Greeks and Romans started building monuments and temples and armies and all the rest,
10 But it didn't work out for the Phoenicians,
11 And nobody remembers any of their names or their books or their cities or anything else they did.
12 Poor bastards,
13 The Carthaginians wanted to be Chosen,
14 So bad it hurt,
15 And thanks to Hannibal and his elephants, they cam that close,
16 Getting stopped just a few miles short of Rome,
17 Which wasn't close enough,
18 Because the Romans couldn't be stopped short when they got to Carthage,
19 wAnd destroyed it completely,
20 Forever.
21 Poor bastards.
22 And there have been lots of Others who came close or thought they might someday,
23 Through all the thousands of years,
24 Including Trojans and Philistines,
25 Koreans and Indochinese,
26 Polynesians and Celts,
27 Basques and Icelanders,
28 And all the little nameless people, in all the countries of the world, who never knew what they were dying for, when all it was was history.
29 But there are always winners and losers,
30 Because that's the way history works,
31 And the ones who were in the game for at least a little while had it easy compared to the ones who never had a chance.
