Actually Hezbollah has about 13,000 missle provided by the Iranians, many are medium range with guidance systems. But Hezbollah needs Irans approval to use them. Lebanon is the only true melting pot of the middle east in that christian, sunni and shia are pretty well balanced.
It was a Syrian puppet till they killed a few too many high profile people, but Hezbollah has a large support base and is part of the government.
I don't think that either Syria or Iran actually want to go to war despite their rhetoric. Iran has used this to move focus away from it's nuclear ambitions and until it has nuclear weapons it won't want to fight Israel.
If worst did happen and Israel bombs Syria then the shiite will hit the fan, Iran would probably move into Syria and Iraq, the Iraqis would revolt against American occupation and most ME countries would support Syria. But remember Israel whooped *** in the 6 day war, they still have a technological advantage if they are hopelessly outnumbered and they are a society were everyone has military training.
As for the problems of the ME, they have been their for thousands of years, but it was actually the British, French and Turkish occupations that caused the problems that are their now. IE Britian deciding to allow the creation of Israel and giving away what the Palestians thought was their land in 1951.
