I'll be driving up there tomorrow to catch 2 nights of Summerfest shows. I basically have no plans during the day on Friday though. Are there any must-see type places in Milwaukee?

I always enjoy a trip to the Miliwaukee zoo.

And don't forget to take all of the brewery tours and get the free beer!

I'll be heading to Battle Creek, MI for the whole week of the 4th. It'll be my first foray into the north midwest to a city that isn't named Chicago.

I'm a little nervous. I mean, they call it pop there, for christ's sake.

Battle Creek has a wonderful hot air baloon festival...great fireworks show at the end of that.

Other than that there is an air force base, and a bunch of cereal.

You could've picked a better place to go, really.

I think we're planning on going to the hot air ballon festival. And there's a chance that there might be some other fair of some sort going on nearby, but I can't really remember the itinerary.

The house we're going to is on a lake. Sounds like we'll be doing a lot of jetskiing, tubing, and the like, so that should be good.

Keep in mind that I'm talking from limited experience here and it was about 8 years ago, but the fireworks show at the baloon festival was top notch.

They also had some really good bands. The launching of the balloons was fun too...I think at that time there were 140+ all launching at the same time...it was quite a sight.

One of the more interesting bars in downtown Milwaukee is the Safe-house.

For good eats (especially if you like BQ'ed ribs) try Saz's. I am pretty sure they have a stand down at Summerfest, too.

The Third Ward area is the place to hang out after Summerfest, and it is pretty close to Summerfest.
