The ones that don't try to taste like meat are much better tasting, to me. Spicy black bean burgers are pretty tasty, and the greek patties with kalamata olives and feta are good, but they make no pretense at being a meat substitute in appearance, texture or flavo
ur. My husband does like the fake meat grillers. They're not terrible, but not my first choice. Put enough condiments on any food and it's ok.
What strikes me as odd about this story is that burgers mixed with soy is no new product. My mom used to buy them to help feed the bottomless pits that were my teenage brothers (this was in the 70's). Also, pretty much any vending machine or convenience store "burgers" have plenty of soy in them. So what, exactly are they doing that's new?
Anyway, I'm game to give them a try. I like the idea of higher protien + lower fat and cholesterol and actual meat flavo
ur.
