Girls just gotta have fries

What do you think is typical "girl food" and "guy food"? Maybe salads and steak?

Not even close.

We asked Harry Balzer, vice president of the NPD Group research firm, to look at 30 years of data on what Americans eat.

"Every day, since 1976, we have asked 3,500 people if they have gone to a restaurant and what they ordered," Balzer said.

The most common thing women order? French fries.

No kidding. Women order fries more often than any other food. Here's another surprise: The second-most-ordered food by women is burgers, followed by pizza. A main-dish salad comes in seventh.

For men, the most-ordered item is burgers, followed by french fries and pizza. A main-dish salad is No. 10.

Still, Balzer says there are some differences in eating choices.

"Men want to eat the same thing over and over, but women will try new things. They're more experimental. They like all those breads that men can't pronounce, like ciabatta and focaccia." (That's cha-BATT-uh and fo-KAH-chuh, fellas.)

Balzer says it's not surprising that some of the fast-food chains are promoting double and triple burgers in ads aimed at men. "Men figure if one is good, two's a lot better. It's why we have razors with five blades."

So that leads me to my question. What is your go-to food? You go out to eat at a restaurant that has either way too much Shit or a majority of its selections are not to your liking. Do you have a usual? A fall back to food when all else fails?

Most of the places around me are crappy corporate "Taverns" I use the term "Tavern" losely That have identical menus. So basically a quick bite out for me usually if not always involves Buffalo Tenders and some sort of cheesed potato product. I rarely order a burger or entree, I am an appetizer type of guy.

I bet if you were to check the number one drink-like item ordered with meals, girls would have a milkshake of some kind to dip their fries in. Smiley: frown I still can't fathom how women (it's mostly women that do this, from my experiences) like that crap....

I dip fries in blue cheese dressing. Ketchup if I don't have any, but blue cheese dressing is the bestestest.

As far as going out, I usually order something spicey, or seafood, since I don't really make either at home. If it has the word "buffalo" in it, chances are I'll be all over that (with the blue cheese dressing of course).

Si.

Do you have BW3's by you? They have some nice nice hot sauce. I still can't eat their highest sauce on more than 3 wings...but I'm training my way up to it.

I actually can't eat *really* hot stuff, nor do I care that much about it. Once it starts overwhelming the flavor, it's too much!

My default selection is usually Sirloin, mash, and veggies. If it doesn't look like a proper steak joint and nothing on the menu appeals to me, back up selection is invariably Fish & Chips.

If it's a burger/sandwhich place I usually go for the house club sandwhich. If it's a Mexican joint the steak fajitas are usually my go to. Italian is usually lasagna, and if it's a steak place I'll get a New York strip with baked potato.

That about covers most places.

usually Ill go for steak. Chicken out always tastes like cardboard, and Im not much of a pork chop fan. However if its on the menu, Ill go for duck or lamb in a nano second.

My "go to" food is live lobster followed by king crab, garlic shrimp then fillet mignon and lastly a pulled pork sandwich. If none of those are available, I tend to just eat at home.

If it has lime or avocado or shrimp, I'm on it. The first time Joph and I hung out (I think it was three days), I had some sort of shrimp fare for every single meal.
The worst was that shrimp milkshake. Bad choice!

It puzzles me where they got there information... Do they consider McDonalds a restraunt? I sure as hell don't.

In order for an outlet to be considered a restraunt you should

a. Be given a table and brought a Menu (Not stand gazing at the neon signs behind the till)

b. Have your food cooked by a chef to order (Not by a pimpled teenager who picks it from the ready cook shelf behind him)

c. Have the meal served by a Waitor/ress to you table. (not shoved on a tray in greaseproof paper)

No restraunt i frequent would have the main choise as "French Fries" hell it would be at the very least part of the meal.

Remove the Fast food outlets from the equasion and give us some real figures.

My meal of choise would be

Hot and sour soup followed by Roast duck in pumb sauce.

I never ever order lobster out, it's way cheaper and easier to just cook at home.

I read this as not what is your favorite restuarant meal, but what do you find yourself eating most often when you're not cooking it at home.

Yeah but, where you live, you have lobsters roaming the garden, getting into the garbage cans at night, building nests in the crabapples, etc.

I usually go for a burger or pasta if I don't trust a place to cook a decent steak. It's pretty hard to fuck up pasta.

Edited for context. And to fix my swear tags. Damn swear tags Smiley: mad

There isn't many restraunts I haven't tried so most of the places I would ver go to I usually have one or two selections I can fall back on.

IF I were to go to a restraunt that was new to me, it would most likely be a burger and fries. Mainly because it is hard to mess up a burger.

I usually try to order something that I wouldn't make at home, so I never order pasta..since even I can make that, haha. I don't cook steak or fish really though, so...

If a restaurant has alot of confusing mixes that I'm worried I'm not going to like, I always search to see if they have a burger. It's as fail safe as it gets.

Oh, and drink-wise, Flea and I try the margaritas 'bout every place we go.

Including last Friday when we went to some faux-Mexican joint and had the worst margaritas ever made. With God as my witness, their idea of a margarita was to pour some tequila and God damned fucking Sierra Mist into a plastic beer cup. WTF?? Smiley: motz
