Ringtones & Wallpaper for Cell Phone Recommendations?Follow

After 2 years of putting up with nails-on-chalkboard grating casio sounding ringtones on our cell phones, my wife and I decided to head to the T-Mobile store and upgrade our phones. Service has always been great with T-Mobile and with the simple swapping over our SIMM chips, our new phones have all our info (stored phone numbers, etc.) from the old phones. We're happy campers.

So we each now have the Motorola V360 model and it's pretty spiffy - video and photo camera, ringtones (Huzzah!) and wallpaper, just to cite a few of the new features.

Anyhoo, I'd appreciate any recommendations for good websites for FREE ringtones and wallpapers if you know of any.

Unless you already have it, send an email from your phone to your email address. Once you have your phones email address you can send just about any small images to your phone for wallpaper. My phone even resizes the large images for me pretty well. You can always photoshop some stuff into the right size as well if your worried about resolution. As long as your ok w/pop-ups >< try this link for .midi files for ringtones some are good some suck *** :) Good luck! ;D

I have a CrapTel i730 (I fu[/red]cking hate NexTel).

I've got the numanuma song, Call on me, Way you move, Drinking bone, I wanna rock, Tarzan Boy, and a few others. All MP3 format (crappy, mono 8-bit mp3, but still very good for a cell phone)

Never downloaded from any site. Pick up the USB adapter for your phone and make your own ring tones. Easy to do (if you’re somewhat computer literate)

EDIT:

I used to have Katamari Damacy as my ring tone too (made the same way as the others). It was set to ring for web alerts. This is also how our network alerts us if their is a down network segment.

Needless to say, I almost shot the fu[red]
cking phone after we had a bad storm.

Most phones and providers have the ability to download them through the phone itself. Honestly that's your best bet. Using websites typically just get your inbox spammed.

Based on my careful observation of societ, it's trendy to have the loudest and most annoying ringtone possible. You should go for that.

For my wallpaper, I took a picture of Stax Records in Memphis and set it to wallpaper. Just take a pic of something you like and do that.

As far as ringtones, I just downloaded them from Cingular and paid for them. Yeah, paying kind of blows, but I was able to get alot of rolling stones and bob dylan and a bunch of other stuff I didn't expect them to have. Jumping Jack Flash has been by ringtone for a while, heh.

If it means spam then forget it. Worst thing I ever did was to sign up at that SMS website which is like myspace for cell phones. I didn't really know at the time and later I was getting like 60 text messages from stupid ***** I didn't know. I don't even have free texting so I was pretty pissed because I didn't even notice I was getting them until I got a "Your box is almost full" message.

I have a windows mobile phone. I just drag-and-drop Mp3's or whatever picture files I like, and there you go.

I seriously recommend it for ease of use.

Hah. A friend of mine was telling me about that a couple weeks ago. Apparently, the kids were playing around with it in his class. He couldn't hear it, but all the kids could.

I finally figured out what I want my ringtone to be. The 4400 theme song which I think is sung by Amanda Abizaid. I couldn't find it on Rhapsody before so I may try desperate measures such as transferring an episode from the TiVo to the computer and then playing it and recording the music with a mic. Any other suggestions not quite so McGuyverish?

I found it on Limewire.

I don't know what that is, but if it's illegal, I can't use it. Pokko is an IT at the university, so he spends a lot of time fighting all that stuff.

Who are you, my mother? GFY... Besides, vibrate-mode makes my pants feel funny. I don't want to walk around work all day with a stiffy. Smiley: grin

I'm currently using the theme song from the old Alfred Hitchcock Presents show, "Funeral March of a Marionette" and I've got a great Stewie recording from Family Guy. Downloaded a couple of others like the old Batman TV show theme song, and original Star Trek show theme song.

As for wallpaper, I'm going to use one of my pics of my wife as soon as I can figure out how to transfer a picture from my pc.

Limewire is legal - I think I paid like $35 bucks for a lifetime package and have had no problems downloading music. The downside is that there are some people who put music up for downloading that mis-identify the performer and/or song. Also, some songs are poorly recorded. Overall though, it's not a bad deal and I can usually find most songs that I'm looking for and they are good quality.

LimeWire was the first to capitulate when the RIAA began sending Cease and Desist or Else letters to commercial file sharing firms. Its software now includes Digital Restrictions Management code. However, a group of LimeWire aficianados are keeping the LW flag flying with their indie FrostWire application.

Thank ye gods for code monkeys who live for digital freedom.
The RIAA butt-raped Limewire, and are watching it like a hawk now. I wonder when e-mule will be going down that road....

EDIT:

eDonkey, which had taken over from Kazaa as King of the commercial p2p apps, also decided discretion was the better part of valour and as a direct result of the cartel Cease & Desist letter, its owners decided to comply with OM demands.

Actually really really well. Baby is sleepy + happy pills = super productive. Enough of a difference that the E.VP came over to my office the other day and wanted to personally say how pleased he was with the work my dept is doing. When the big W calls and says that the work we are doing is the best they have ever seen from my company, and then tells other companies that they need to come visit my dept and take notes, it makes the big guys happy. Which makes me rich.

Oddly enough though, I still have little to no patience with the majority of you.

Mom, dat yoo? In public? Um, we're on a fooking gaming website forum. I find it hilarious to be criticized by a dude who plays a female Night Elf toon in WoW.

Neph, there's no shame to being a gamer. I guess some of us are still in the closet about it, hmmm? Smiley: sly Come out of the closet and embrace your inner gaming geek, Neph! We reek! We're geeks! Smiley: yippee

Or maybe you need to start trolling some grab-*** latent ****-erotic sports forum - maybe you'll be more comfortable there.

Seriously, unclench your sphincter for once and enjoy life. Accept diversity! Get over the fact we aren't all alike - as you probably envision in your Aryan-Utopian society. I accept you for the uptight, conservative, in-the-closet cross-dressing cracker that you are. Accept me for the geeky, boring, liberal gaming fooktard that I am, dammit! Love me, Neph! Love me!!! Smiley: cry
