Most of the shows he wrote were repetitive, formulaic, and unentertaining. No hard feelings against the dude, just I think he could've done a better job.

Bleh, now someone else can step up to produce the new Melrose Place. I think it will have a CSI angle, but plenty of sex and catfights.

Regardless of the artistic merits of his shows, he made an assload of money off of them and had his shows on the air for years and years. Doesn't mean I want to buy a box-set of The Love Boat on DVD but you can't deny that he was good at what he did.
