What really makes me mad is that I was all "YEAH!" until I realized I'm at work and I can't use Firefox here. Smiley: mad

I was offering a solution while acknowledging that it may not be practical depending on your work environment Smiley: glare

I just switched to FireFox the other day. Pretty nifty, though there are a few things I'd like to change but don't know how.

Ask, there are enough firefox users here that we could probably point you in the right direction. That is if we can take our eyes off DF's new avatar.

Well, let's see...um...what was it? Oh yeah: when I had the Google Toolbar in IE, a search in there would open a new window with the results. I'd like to have FF open a new tab, at least, or another window. Right now it just posts results in the current tab.

Click on "Tools"

Then "Options"

Then select "Tabs"

You can make it open links in new tabs but in the same window or in entirely new windows. Up to you, play around and figure it out.

No, that doesn't work, none of those settings affect the search field function. I'll just have to work on it. Thanks for the help though.

Have you checked out the add on functions, something like

https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/803/

I keep my settings so that new tabs open up as blank (instead of going to my home page) and I'm just in the habit of hitting CTRL+T before I type something in the search field.

Hm. What this addon does is let Google's website open each search result in a new tab. Not what I'm looking for - I want the results page of the toolbar Google box to open in a new tab.

Crescent, that's what I've been doing also, though opening a new tab doesn't load anything (even though my homepage, a Google custom page, would work anyways). It's only slightly more tedious than what I'm used to.
