I was driving out to see my youngest daughter Tuesday, and everything was going well until about 2335. I'm passing by a gas station that was closed for the night, where a semi was pulling in, when some fu[red][/red]cker plows into the side of me, totally ******** my car up. The best part is that they never stopped. According to the semi driver, they "stomped" on it when they hit me.

Now I'm screwed. My insurance won't cover it, and of course I had just dropped full coverage to save some extra green for a down payment on another car three months ago. I only needed on more paycheck before I raised it back up to full coverage, but I suppose it doesn't matter now...well, not until I fix it anyway.

/sigh

Sounds as if they are at fault. Go bother their insurance company.

Did you report it as a hit and run? Did you or the trucker get the make of the car? etc.

Unless you have any visible injuries, no offence was committed.

It's known as a "Date Wreck"

That's the best part of the story? How about some dismemberment? Some jail time? Some boobs? Even a gangrenous toe would do.

Well, I do have this headache...but I think that's more related to having to fix my car...sadly, no boobies in that part of the story. Once I reached my destination however...

Hit and run was reported, but the area that I was in is rather large and overgrown to be honest. The Trooper said they'd find the car, but didn't think it'd be soon. He gave me a time frame of about 3 months. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, I'm still stuck with the bill.

The only consilation that I have is that the Trooper said he'd call me and give me the details needed to move toward fixing my car before he moved to arrest...nevermind that I have the address of the ******* at that point or anything.

Yuck it up.

On a lighter note, I landed an interview with a far better organization than I'm with now. So, now that I've vented, what's changed here? Has the true identity of Sassy been discovered yet?

Asylum Update - Aegis died, Katie was consumed by the blackhole that is the DAOC forum, the coupling of Flea'jo won the hearts of Asylum, Moe went into seclusion to hone his wrath for the impending reckoning, and Debalic continued to breath in an uninteresting fashion.

1) Go see a Chiro and a Neuroligist right away and then get MRI for your neck and back. You might think you are OK, but you could have spinal disc injuries that have not show their long term efects yet. Plus its covered under No Fault and you won't have to pay a dime, but you need to go now, cause you insurance co will close your no fault claim relatively quickly, and if your back and neck start having problems in a couple of months it will be a ***** to get no fault coverage then.

2) It is important to check your policy for uninsured driver coverage. I assume you have it, it might even be mandatory to a certain amount. If you do, it provides liability coverage up to that amount for unisured drivers, which since the guy took off, he is to you in this case. If your uninsured driver coverage is 25K liability (mine is 100K, but I think I pay extra to get it that high) then that is how much your insurance company will have to pay you (minus med expensives) for any injuries you may have exactly as if you sued that guy and he had to pay. With some luck you get that car paid for after all, though it may take a year or two to see the $$.

Unfortunately, I'm screwed. I've already called my insurance company twice about the matter, and they refuse to help me out in any way. They basicly told me to play hide and go fu[red][/red]ck myself.

A change in company is in the works.

There's a small television-personality lizard that is calling your name right now. Can you hear it? It's in a slight cockney accent...

If you'd come to Bahstan, you'd know that periodically Debalic "exhales" so forcefully he sounds like a grizzly bear roaring at a foe.

Pretty impressive for a fellow who weighs about 13 pounds, soaking wet.

Some people call it "belching".

Call a lawyer. You'll be amazed at the turn around once your insurance knows you have one. I'm not sure, but in most states uninsured motorist coverage is a requirement. It's purpose is EXACTLY the situation described above. Several years ago I was rear-ended by a hit and run driver. Even though I had the plate number, description of the car, and the description of the driver, he was never found. Honestly, it was an old, not so far from retirement police officer that arrived on the scene, so I guess I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up. Anyway, long story short I hired an attorney, in reality to go after the guy that hit me. Instead they got my insurance company to pony up the cash.

"1) Go see a Chiro..." --fhrugby

Tanslation? Go see a quack who couldn't make it into or through med school. Lemme give you the short version of what you'll be told if you darken the door of one of those shysters.

"A car wreck you say? Hmmm, bad news indeed! Why, I can see without my instruments that one leg is shorter than the other and that your spine is curved! A mere 46 visits over the next three months will fix you up in no time.

How will you be paying for this? Mastercard? Visa? What's that? You have no money?!? Well, uhh, lemme check you over again real quick...

...uhhhh, yep, just as I suspected! Your spine is shaped just fine and you slouch when standing. Hmm, I'm sorry, I have another mark, errr, patient waiting outside, so if you'll please tell my receptionist that your bill for my services today came to $275. Thank you very much. And sir? If your insurance gets reactivated or your lawyer collects from that other driver, I'd be happy to re-examine you for any latent or post traumatic stress injuries!"

That's chiropractice in a nutshell. The only thing missing in their bag of medical tricks is a nice bleeding session and some leeches.
