At any rate, I got the game to run. It was just some random error thinger. Works decent now.

No, seriously, Blix. I don't mind new folks coming in here and joining the fray. That's, after all, what keeps this place interesting. But the sheer inanity of a typical-- nay, every --Blix post rivals reading the obits or tax code.

I'd maybe even be enticed to blast you with an epic flame just because you bring something to the table, but no, the only thing you have is... crap. I mean, this is the place to razz people on this site. We all know that. I assume you do too, or so I hope. But the difference between being an annoying pest and being an a$$hole is that at least people respect an a$$hole. Especially a funny a$$hole or a quick witted a$$hole or a mean a$$hole. Yet to date you don't reach even those low standards. You're simply annoying.

If that epitath just made you spooge over your keyboard, well, I'm happy to have made your day. But if you wish to actually earn other's respect, being the poster whose company everybody avoids isn't gonna cut it. And this isn't about popularity, contrary to what outsiders to this forum might think. Lord knows we have plenty of unpopular writers in here, but for the most part if you got game you earn respect. Katie is living proof of this statement. You can make your niche here in an any numbers of ways, but the one method that is universally reviled and detested is by being annoying. And don't think that you're being unique here. Oh no. We've had countless Blixes here in the past and every one of them has moved on or died a slow sub-default death.

Judging by the fact you've paid good money to get a premium account I am assuming that you aren't spending cash frivolously to make random_socks (although that too has been done in the past). Beyond what you get for you money in terms of search features and all, I'm guessing that means you are more or less committed to this site for whatever reason. That is where nearly every other person who is an Asylum regular or old timer has been, and is also what keeps us here year and year. And I don't know if you get that-- or if you even particularly care-- but the fact remains that there is something about this forum which has kept people around regardless what happens to the games, the format, and even Allakhazam itself. You can be part of that if you want. Or you can continue to be annoying and eventually you will drop out just like every other person who has gone down that road.

Don't ask me why I am actually taking the time to point all this out to you, Blix. Maybe I see in your writing or have seen something in the past that makes me think you have something to offer this community. When you first showed up here a while ago you have some thoughts and ideas, that while I didn't agree with them, were at least thought provoking to me. Political stuff. Then you disappeared for a bit and have come back in your present form. Why, I don't know. But for what it's worth, I'm offering you a chance or the path to take to fit in here. As one of the old timers I can truly say it's worth it if you make the effort.

It's your choice.

I'll be the first to applaud and welcome you, B.

I understand why some people resent this place. Superfically it can be trite, calloused, clique-ish, and inbred. We generally trash anybody new and that can be harsh to someone not expecting it or knowing what is happening. While it wasn't always this way, over time and with the expansion of forums for every game under the sun it became a way to weed out the lost sould who wandered in here asking about quests, or why their MMORPG account was acting up. And we got a laugh out of seeing them get red in the face and squawk about us being rude to someone asking a simple question, but it served its' purpose: it prepared those who were up to the task of defending themselves and let us know who had the confidence to stand up for themselves.

Allow me to reminice, if you will. When I first joined the UBB forum Smasharoo was god here. He would gladly rip you up one side and tear you up down the other. I made a few no0bie mistakes, paid the price by being publically humiliated, and looked at what just happened. I recognised that he could annilihilate anyone in a quick New York second, but if you had your facts straight or at the very least your opinions based on reasonable logic, he would grudgingly respect you. Especially if you fought back.

In time I learned that his is a parsing type of attack and could be countered by humor and by purposefully misunderstanding his arguments. While it didn't get anywhere in a meaningful debate, it began to develop my writing skills (which, when I look back were terrible and so, so earnest- gulp!). From there it was just a matter of getting acquainted and stating your opinion or making outlandish comments to instigate discussion. Voila! I may or may not have earned anybody's respect, but in time I carved out my own niche here at the Asylum, as everybody does who sticks around.

Anyhow, I look forward to the Blix to showed up here some months ago (has it been a year now?) and greet you with a hearty GFY. By that, it means, at least for me, any past transgressions are forgiven and welcome to fold.
